In a brief return to audio only episodes, we inflict another action movie on Cara. And no, it's not the good Avengers.

GodAwful

And apologies for the metadata being nuts...

Darby Mori

Hell yes! I love Uma and she looked amazing, but the movie was not good.

Woodsy Boredom

I find it hard to believe that you aren't remotely familiar with the wonderful iconic 60's British TV show The Avengers with Patrick MacNee and Dianna Rigg. One of the things that makes this film such a travesty is how much it misses the mark in its emulation of that show.

Nicholas Morgan-Moore

Hey! I loved this movie 😂 now, I was 13 the last time I watched it... I wonder what was going on in my life that made it so alluring to me? 🥸

Leon

Can I be brave? Can I say something from my heart? Dr. Cara is such a great guest. Love every episode she is on.

Morris Salisbury

I will hold you in the light, and agree. Dr. Cara is quite possibly, my favorite guest masochist.

Denise Huston

I have the boxed set next to me, lol. Cheesy af

This-is-a-text-message

Lol 'Brolly' is British slang for umbrella so they just used what words they needed to make it that.

Blue Star Comics

Now all that's left is to get Cara on to review an Easter play parody of the 1998 Avengers.

Gmork

She's great, but how was this not a Marsh episode? Did he boycott or something?

Robert Fitzgerald

I was so mad as a kid the tv show wasn't Marvel, but I stayed for Emma Peel the leather off. RIP Diana Rigg.

Macks with a CKS

This is just furthering my conspiracy theory that Cara doesn't do the video episodes because she's secretly just been an Eli persona this whole time

Markus Nävergård

if Marsh had been there, he´d sing the movies praises, loving every second of it

The Seraphim are Wasted

A fanatical, conspiratorial, evil billionaire... That would never happen.

Overflight

The interstitial bit with the waiter is basically how I remember every single line of this movie’s dialogue. God I hate this movie so much. I bet the original TV show was nice but this movie is utterly unwatchable.

Overflight

That would explain why Eli is so hard on her.

Stephen O'Hanlon

The original series was massive in the UK for us boomers; especially the Emma Peel era. The film was a tragedy, that completely misunderstood the original.

Robert Fitzgerald

Cara will be bonus only, I bet. Afraid of what Eli can do with video editing.

Parlan Stuart

I'd forgotten this travesty existed...

Laura Mipsum

Apparently the blackmail is not enough to make Cara appear on video.

TheDingoThatTookYourBaby

If you think the tile of Mrs. Peel is bad (and it is), the name Emma Peel was a deliberate take for a 1960s show for M. Appeal. Man Appeal. It doesn't get better. In the TV series, no one ever used her doctorate title. She was far more competent than John Steed though in the series.

Andrew Gibson

It wasn’t 5 people that loved it on rotten tomatoes. It was 4. :)

Parlan Stuart

LA does **not** have good weather... or climate..., Dr. Cara! :)

Audrey

Mrs. Peel was her name in the TV show, that’s why they revert to it. I haven’t seen the show in many years and didn’t see the movie. It sounds like they tried for the dry, flirty humor of the original and failed terribly. The show’s charm was how truly cool the characters remained while doing silly things.

My dog is more sentient than Claude

I'd heard of it but never seen it, so it wasn't unknown, but I didn't think it was very popular. I never even saw it on reruns

Trae

Loved the original TV show, it was one of my dad’s favorites as well. Which is why we saw this movie in the theatre together… I haven’t seen it since then, so my legit the only enduring memory I have of it is Sean Connery dressed as a Jerry bear.

WelcomeToFalse

“These boots are made for stalkin’…”

Sarah Deen

This episode makes no more sense when listening sober vs high.

Denise Huston

They sold tapes of it in catalogs, which is how I saw it (Dad had the Emma Peel years), but it was more of a cult hit.

Dylan Miller

Diana Rigg is the greatest thing to ever grace television screens.

Linnea H

They did Emma Peel so dirty.

James Russell

Yeah, the reason it was shot on film from 1965 onwards—and *colour* film at that for the last two seasons, well before British TV went over to colour broadcasting—was for American TV sales.

James Russell

Big round of applause for Chap GPT.

Scott Lesch

Perhaps the producers were inspired by The Prisoner on top of the The Avengers.

Fifth Clever Name

Those hamster balls are every bit as fun as you'd think, but only if there are others involved. As a solo act it's pretty mid.

Jesse Ozog

And let us not forget Dianna Rigg, the original Peele, was also the Queen of Thorns on GoT

John Tanzer

I am probably the youngest person who knows anything about this TV show because my dad was so excited to take us to this movie then got SO MAD at how badly it handled the source material, that he rented a bunch of tapes of the original series and made my sister and I watch it.

Laura Lusby

Ok so the whole time I’m waiting for the “lasers” scene and when it was over I realized that the “lasers” scene is in ENTRAPMENT.

Anita Squires

I feel in love with the original when they re showed on channel 4 and channel 2 in the UK. Also enjoyed The New Avengers.

Spiked Nalgene

This film was the very first DVD my family got when we got a DVD player. Don't worry; Casablanca was the second.

Markus D

I don't. A lot of British TV doesn't make it to the U.S. unless your family is British or you're on particular parts of the internet. And the 60s was... quite a while ago.

Markus D

I thought a Turkish sword fight was when you rubbed your dicks together in the steam room. Shows what I know!
