Progress Update July 2020 (Blog) (Patreon)

Hey everyone.

It's been a while since I've uploaded or even attempted getting into properly making my next video so I thought I'd share where I am regarding whatever may be next... as well as some other things.

THE PC & MY DAY JOB:

So... I've been having a few issues on my end regarding how and when I'm going to be able to make videos at the moment.

The main thing is my PC. I'm sure I've mentioned this in previous posts but it's becoming so temperamental these days that sinking time into making videos like I have done before now isn't really an option at the moment.

I'll boot up Vegas, drag a clip in and it will crash. I'll go to add a new layer and it will crash. I'll open up my image editing software to make a logo and... you get the point.

I know it isn't Vegas (as I know some people meme on Vegas being unreliable) but the fact most things these days run slowly means I think it's just the PC being old and worn out. I really do need to look into getting a new one soon.

The main thing is that it's caused a sort of downward spiral with my mood towards wanting to make content. I'll have a burst of inspiration and then I'll boot up the PC and after it crashing 3 times trying to open windows file explorer like it did the other day... I inevitably just get pissed off and shut the computer down again.

I've found other things to do like messing around with Dreams on the PS4 which has been fun... as well as just generally playing games for the sake of just wanting to play them but I am starting to miss making my content.

As well as that, after a stay away from work for so long I've returned back to my day job and it's... boring as hell, truth be told. I found it boring anyway, but after having had an extended period of time to just do whatever I like... I'm finding myself even more fed up while there at the moment. Which on top of the PC trouble just makes me less bothered to want to try making stuff a lot of the time.

So while my last video was only uploaded a month ago it's probably been around twice that long since I've felt inspired to make something new because of all of this. I'm slowly gaining a  little more momentum with each week that passes at the moment though.

DESTROY ALL HUMANS SERIES:

Which leads me onto some potentially bad news. Because of this slow down with my computer, it means I've not been able to finish all 4 Destroy All Humans videos before the remake coming out (which at this point is about a week away I think?)

...And because I've essentially been working on this series in the background for best part of 8 months now and STILL not managed to get all of them done in the time I wanted to, I'm pretty fed up of looking at them as projects now... and am considering either pulling the plug, or just delaying the videos until I'm more in the mood to work on them.

Had I known how things were going to go regarding my PC being shit and the decline in my general mood towards making content because of it, I definitely would not have made such a big song and dance about "doing it properly and covering all of the games in the series this time!" 

So if there's one thing I've learnt it's to just plod on with one video at a time, be cool about things... and only subtly reference upcoming videos... EVEN if it's part of a series... just to save face should anything like this happen again.

I'll see how things are once I get this theoretical "new PC" but for the time being I'm just going to focus on smaller projects on other games I've been wanting to talk about all this time.

OTHER VIDEOS:

As it stands right now I have 2 potential scripts I'm currently writing (one short video and one longer one) but either one of them could enter full production first at this rate. It all just depends on the specifics of... how... these things go... (that's reason enough, I dunno what I'm talking about lol)

So yeah, not much going on I'm afraid. This is why I switched the page back to a "per video" page afterall!

Hopefully I have better news regarding a new video soonish.
