so basically my plans for now are like:

I would reach out to other creators for help on that, or find a friend who is more discord literate to help walk you through it and maybe even be a mod.
There are a number of bots that different channels use, as well as some additional features between discord and patreon.
I heard that a lot of creators are using private channels on their own servers for membership content + patreon
Indeed they are. They make their own channel on discord, often having one side for people who may or may not be subscribing, and another did the various backer levels.
I currently am on discord channels for Groz and Lluis that are pretty elaborate.
