We know AI is coming. We still prefer to keep our code pure. Every project is made by us, with no AI.

We will still provide AI tools like DLSS 5.

Meanwhile I am still working on ETS2/ATS Lighting v3 for better performance. Because AI is driving hardware prices higher every day, optimizing performance is more important than ever.

Edit: I have no issue with people using AI because it is inevitable. If you want it use it. But I think if AI works very well there will be nothing to make anymore in 1-2 years anyway. I just think there is no point for me to abandon coding which is something I love for something short term. There will be AI mods you can use and it is up to me to make something better than AI mods. You should stick to one is better for you.

Also I see a lot of people talking about AI recently with games and apps. I just think it will just end up moving everything (games/apps) to cloud and they will give you web app or remote desktop to use the software or play the game and it will end up more expensive than ever. I don't know why people cannot see the result of this.

Ansioso pela v3, será se sai ainda em 2026?

Whitehatz Gaming

Bro please make Dlss5 for gta5 legacy like you made Dlaa tool before. Yours is working effectively

nba_xrichyrnx

yes we need more optimization because the game engine is bad

Chris

Performance very important on triple screen

ModsbyHuxxi

I disagree, with you. AI is future, and people using AI would be miles ahead of you, with you having the right experience on Snowymoon Plugin, you can do wonders and be more time efficient. I would not appreciate you on not using AI. NVIDIA should have said the same: We don't support AI, so we are not launching DLSS 5. You building something with AI assist, doesn't mean you don't have inputs and hours of playtesting involved, so I will support you on using AI; YOU ARE THE GOAT of all the plugins out there. You can do wonders with or without AI; but in such time, not using AI is highly discouraged. People want a feature-rich, optimised finished product, whether you use AI or no AI. In the end, the result matters. I experienced this with my Mods. Somebody would still be on your tail, if you dont use AI, and you cant do anything on the times, how AI is being scary and the posts you see on reddit, decomps and recomps. Thanks, and sorry if you found that offensive. You will realise that later,

Snowy Moon

I agree with you but; I started coding because I was curious. I kept coding because it was fun. First reason I am not going to use AI for coding because I like finding solutions myself and implementing them. Second reason is I like to understand everything in my project. I don't like to read any code written by someone else including AI. I am not against AI, because AI is inevitable but I would like to keep going myself until I can't anymore.

Snowy Moon

For now I am focused on ETS2/ATS, I am sorry <3

Snowy Moon

High chance but I cannot guarantee anything <3

Whitehatz Gaming

But Can we expect in future like this year end. Again bro your mod was something else. My legacy runs with your mod and it’s working well and doing its part. Anti shimmering and reduced flickered light. 💯

I would like to commend your insight and your idea

Suburbannun TV

Man, don’t sweat it, you will use AI for your programming sooner rather than later. Whatever is better to keep your customers, like me, happy, just do it. Right now, I’m half way moving away from it because of the “other AI options”. Don’t fight it. Cheers!

Suburbannun TV

But you’re going to fall behind newcomers who are adopting the technology. Use your expertise to make AI accelerate your work, not compete with it. You can still travel to Paris by horse and carriage, but don’t be surprised when everyone else gets there first.

AGhost

AI is a tool, not an enemy. It doesn't just show you the answer, but help you think and code faster

ModsbyHuxxi

That's what my point is. There was a time where/when you were a student before AI, and now you are the teacher/leader and make AI your student.

Snowy Moon

The problem with AI is everyone can make same project. There is not a good way to provide something extra to stand out. It is going to be worse if I focus on same things, I must provide something different and probably best I can offer is my experience.

Snowy Moon

I don't need something to think for me, it is not an issue. Writing and managing large code is the problem for me but using AI to do that is not ideal. I cannot know if written code is what I want.

Reinhardt

V2 is already amazing i can't wait to SEE V3 now😍

Snowy Moon

I would love to have AI write and manage the code I have in my mind but I cannot trust it. And I cannot just go and read it to check. Managing large code is the only problem I have, it becomes tiring but I cannot trust AI to do that.

Bungle Beezley

I ha to unsub and stop using tbe plugin as it dropped my FPS to 1-2 a second with the latest game update sadly.

Snowy Moon

Probably you have an issue with other mods if you are using or game settings or GPU drivers. You should try without other mods and reset game config/update GPU drivers

Bungle Beezley

I am not using any other plugins or mods. I removed your plugin and my framerate is fixed immediately. I've been subbed since you started

ModsbyHuxxi

You can always mould or train your AI the way you want it to be, checking the diff after every pass and change, and making your edits the way you want them to be. The point is, if newcommers can surprise with AI, just imagine what a a pro like you can do. In the end its your choice to use it or not. But sooner or later you will have to switch, and it would be frustrating to see others decomping your code and improving over it faster than you because you chose to do it the hardway and they chose to do it the smart cheeky way. Non technical people always gonna appreciate you on not using AI, as reddit is filled with people calling AI a slop. Yes, you can gain sympathy and praises for not using AI but man you may end up losing subscribers when someone posts a decomp of your version with improvements, but man just look at what dlss5 did, the people who called it a slop are now using it. Mario Kart world nintendo's exclusive got decompiled and being launched to PC, and man you are no bigger than nintendo.

AI decompiled a whole Midnight Club LA published by Rockstar byte by byte, and you choose not to trust AI?

Hubaish AlBalushi

Ai is the future and it's codes are better than yours in every way including optimization. Stop hating and use it. You're stupid if not using it or denying it.

Snowy Moon

I am not hating AI. I love coding and I would like to keep coding myself until I can't. Until people starts making mods better than mine I would like to keep going myself. Then I can switch to AI.

Snowy Moon

The plugin is same, it is just game version compatibility fixes. And other people have no issue so it must be something from your computer?

Snowy Moon

Decompiling is different than writing and managing the code I want to write

Bungle Beezley

Every other mod and plugin works fine, tested individually. I have checked game files, updated drivers. Not true. Its an issue your plugin has with the last updates.

Tito

Thanks for taking performance as something importante, very needed... But why wouldn't you make your life easier and keep being an stubborn punk not using it and making your life easier? I'm a TPM and trust me not only makes it easier but will also improve your coding definitely, let's stop trying to deny what can't be avoided.

Snowy Moon

I don't know why people doesn't think multiple steps. If AI can do all of this then we will have nothing. Literally 0. Because if everyone can copy everything then there will be nothing to copy. People/companies are going to stop making things you can copy. They will move to cloud computing and let you have a web app or remote desktop to use the software or play the game. It will be more expensive than ever with no chance to use it for free. AI is real deal and improving but it doesn't mean we will have everything and be happy. I am not against AI. But there are issues with the mindset you have. Because everything will be there to use and it is not going to be important to use AI or not. It is not going to help me in long term. There will be no product sell. I will just try to trust my experience and keep working myself. I fail it doesn't matter because it means there is nothing to make anymore.

Tito

Indeed ia very ignorant not using such great new tools and using the "i CaN tHiNk bY mYsElF" argument, as if AI isn't just amplifying that beyond what most people could.

유병혁

V3 언제 출시하나요?

Tito

You ain't standing out against AI specially if you are not using the tools that can make your work way more efficient. Trust me no one gives a f if you are coding by your own or assisted, no one is checking that, only what, how and when you can deliver. Chill a bit lmao.

Snowy Moon

Because it is very short term gain. If it is good enough and people can do everything they want there will be no product to sell. There will be no product copy because everything will be cloud computing. I trust my experience to make something better than AI can make. Sure it can help but I am pretty old school when it comes to coding, I stick to C style C++ without using anything newer than classes. Even if I fail it will be pretty short term loss because there will nothing make anymore unless it is on cloud. And even if I fail it is going to be fun.

Snowy Moon

But it is working fine for everyone else?

Snowy Moon

If that's the case there is no reason to make anything anymore because everyone can make everything which means everything will be useless to someone else. It is going to fail anyway?

Snowy Moon

If that's the case there is no reason to make anything anymore because everyone can make everything which means everything will be useless to someone else. It is going to fail anyway?

Snowy Moon

I am not sure yet, it will be released when it is ready to release

Credelle .

No one is going to mind it you use ai to speed up development, aí usage is only bad if you're straight up copying what it regurgitates

Snowy Moon

I don't mind using AI. I mind using AI to write code I cannot fully check. If I could 100% trust AI to write the code I want to write it would help a lot but I cannot 100% trust. It must be 100%.

Tito

LOL... Bruh, this sounds very ign... Very boomer indeed. One day you'll stop being stubborn, will try it and realize how quick it will make you work at least 50% faster, and probably fix all the things that you miss and still have no idea how to fix. If you think at this point you can code better than an LLM trained for coding, you need to get upto date on the topic.

Snowy Moon

I don't know what is the issue here. If AI works well you can use it. I am not against people using AI. I just think it is not fun and if AI works very well there will be nothing make anymore anyway. It is going to be lose-lose anyway, what is the point? I love coding myself, it is not a job for me so I have no issue doing something I love even without the improvement AI can provide.

Tito

Yikes, haven't read such an stubborn response in a long time... "No I will not use something that makes me faster, suggests optimizations and helps me with finding and resolving issues faster" that's how you sound... But sure, you do you.

Bawdy Bard

AI cannot yet code better than a seasoned developer. Anyone who claims otherwise is actually quite inadvertently revealing that they're not a particularly competent coder themselves.

Snowy Moon

Edit: I have no issue with people using AI because it is inevitable. If you want it use it. But I think if AI works very well there will be nothing to make anymore in 1-2 years anyway. I just think there is no point for me to abandon coding which is something I love for something short term. There will be AI mods you can use and it is up to me to make something better than AI mods. I don't know why people cannot see the result of this.

Snowy Moon

Because they are not the problems I have. For most people AI can help with these but the only problem I have is writing and managing large code. If I could trust AI to write and manage the code I have in my mind I would use it. Maybe I can trust 99% but it is not 100% which is a big problem because I cannot read it myself to solve it.

Tito

Yes those are too, that's why now at days anyone that took a month to make a web app can make it in 1 week or less, that's the problem anyone not using Ai as a tool has, but whatever, you are way too stubborn and keep repeating nonsense about "there's gonna be nothing to do" or "can't trust it" like if it was a person that's gonna do whatever it wants or something like that 🤦🏾‍♂️

Bungle Beezley

That's a very bold statement my friend. I would guess that you don't know how well it works for every single user. As I said, I have subbed since you launched, never had any issues until 1.61 game version. I tried removing and adding mods and plugins one by one to narrow it down and its 100% your plugin killing my framerate. I love your plugin, I hate to stop using it, but have no choice.

Snowy Moon

I am not someone who is not going to adapt and reject AI forever, I just think it is not there yet. If people starts to make something better than I make then I will start to adapt. It is not like using AI takes years to learn like coding. So I see no reason to switch now. It is not a problem to be late for AI because it is very easy to start using AI and improve. And I still think there will be nothing to make anymore if it happens.

alberto colavitti

Well done, I fully agree with all your thoughts—keep it up!

Snowy Moon

I mean almost 60 000 people are using the plugin, I don't think they would keep using it if they had extreme low fps. I know plugin affects performance and it depends on many things but the problem you have is extreme and pretty rare. Which makes me think there is something else?

Suburbannun TV

I really think you’re looking at AI the wrong way. You already have the technology, the experience, the know-how, and the user base. AI does not have to think for you, and it does not have to replace the part of coding that you actually enjoy. It can simply make your workflow faster: help with repetitive code, testing, debugging, refactoring, documentation, trying alternatives, and getting builds out more quickly. Because the risk is not that AI replaces you. The risk is that in two weeks some 12-year-old kid turns up with an add-on called Rainy Moon or whatever the fuck, uses AI brilliantly, releases faster, fixes things faster, adds features faster, and suddenly people like me move our one-dollar subscription over there. And I’m very happy to keep paying you that dollar. I would much rather support the guy who already knows what he’s doing. I’m a sound engineer. I used to own recording studios. I don’t anymore, because the stupid little computer, interface, and software I have at home now can outperform studios that cost me a fortune years ago. I could have decided that using those tools somehow made me less of a sound engineer. Instead, they simply let me do the same job better, faster, and with far less friction. AI is just another tool. Your judgment is still yours. Your taste is still yours. Your code is still yours. My two cents.

Bungle Beezley

With the almost infinite hardware confgurations on PCs, I am sure performance varies a lot. Its only the latest updates that changes this, so by the power of deduction, I would summise that something in the game update in combination with your plugin causes me to have an unplayable FPS. Again without your plugin, I have no such issues. Running any other mods and or plugins are also fine for me.

Tito

Jesus, you… You really shouldn’t have included this nonsense in the main post. It makes it 10x worse LOL. 😂 That’s such an ignorant and clueless take that it genuinely makes me wonder how much you’ve actually read about these topics. But hey, everyone’s entitled to their own crazy ideas. You’re assuming AI will inevitably centralize everything into expensive cloud subscriptions as a fact, when it will easily do the opposite. AI is lowering the barriers to creating software, games, and tools, allowing anyone to build their own products without needing massive budgets or entire development teams. Combine that with open-source software, local AI models, and increasingly capable hardware, and people can become less dependent on corporations, NOT more. Will companies try to lock people into subscriptions? Of course. But that’s a business strategy, not an "inevitable" technological outcome. You’re confusing what SOME corporations might want with what technology enables people to do. 🤦‍♂️

Mauricio Plaza

The flood of AI mods that are pure slop is crazy. I will refuse to pay for projects that use AI. I like handcrafted mods. You can use some sort of AI, but it’s clear that many are just vibe coding it.

Snowy Moon

I don't do testing, debugging (pretty rare), documentation etc. I just code it and recode if I want to clean up then release it. I would love to use AI for coding but like I said there is no way for me to trust AI 100% to code something the way I want. I don't want to take 99%, I need 100%.

Aviation Best

The best graphics mod that I ever paid for it and I will never regret it! Great job

Ulf Bjarke

Use a clean profile with no mods other than Snowy's and test.

Bawdy Bard

Imagine reading someone say 'I like coding because it's fulfilling and fun' and responding with an arrogant, multi-paragraph, unsolicited corporate lecture about cloud architecture and open-source models etc. Touch grass!

Bungle Beezley

That's exactly what I did, as stated above. I get 1-2 FPS with the plugin and 30-50 FPS without it.

Snowy Moon

Because there will be nothing to make anymore if what you imagine happens. There will be nothing to make a difference so there will be no product. And if it doesn't go that far then everything is going to run on cloud because of security.

Snowy Moon

There is no problem with the plugin, I mean you have the problem when you use with plugin but there must something on your computer causing this problem when used with the plugin. Plugin itself is using same code on 60k pc, I cannot know what is your edge case. If it is a problem you cannot solve you shouldn't use it. I also cannot solve it because it is not actually from the plugin.

Bungle Beezley

The problem is the plugin. All other mods and plugins work fine.

RiZou71

I completely agree with Snowymoon; Peter Boese expresses a very similar view. Tout à fait d'accord avec Snowymoon, d'ailleurs Peter Boese tient à peu près le même discours

T wie Tom

I share this view. AI will follow the same path as every other great human invention since gunpowder. Good and useful ideas end up being "perfected" to such an extent that they eventually turn against the actual interests and well-being of the vast majority of people. :(

Jose Leonardo Gomez

I completely agree with you! There’s a huge difference between using technology as an assistant and turning over the entire creative process to AI. When we stop coding and debugging line by line, we lose the passion and craftsmanship that make creating worthwhile. Your focus on genuine, clean-code optimization in ETS2/ATS Lighting v3 is exactly what the community needs right now. While much of the industry relies on AI upscaling to cover up poor software efficiency, optimizing actual performance for local hardware shows true dedication. Plus, your point on cloud software is spot on—we are heading toward subscription models where users pay more for less control. Supporting pure code and human talent isn't about resisting progress; it's about preserving quality and the pride of creation. Best of luck with v3!. @Mulder. [ERL]

Назар Шухевич

Please add HDR support to the v2 version. Many people already have HDR monitors.

Tony P

Sounds like you don't need Snowy , just get ai to make your own mods. And while you're at it , fuck off Cheers

marc

First of all, thanks for sharing your thoughts—mine are quite similar to yours... AI is popping up everywhere these days... I remember the early days of the internet, and it was much the same thing... I think you just have to learn to accept the times you live in... I’m 60, and I have to admit that everything is moving a bit too fast for me... that’s why I play ETS2/ATS; it’s slow, just like me! (laughs)

A.F.R.

RealityHack

Maybe AI could help make it work with HDR lol

Kamran Shahid

Love your mod but I believe the updates come slow for example there is still no HDR support on V2. v3 is still not here. Maybe Ai can help you accelerate build and get things delivered.

Hello, I’ve been subscribed to the V2 version of your graphics mod for ETS2 for a long time, and I’ve been enjoying using it. As you may know, OptiScaler can add frame generation to DX11 games through its DX12 translation layer, and it has been tested and shown to work in various videos. Over the past few days, I’ve been trying to use OptiScaler’s frame generation alongside Snowy Moon. Under normal circumstances, OptiScaler works fine with Snowy Moon. However, as soon as I enable frame generation, the game either fails to launch or gets stuck on a black screen. I suspect this might be related to the DX12 layer used for frame generation. I’ve also prepared a report file and tried various solutions, but unfortunately, I haven’t been able to get OptiScaler’s frame generation working with Snowy Moon. Are you currently working on a solution for this issue? Do you plan to make any changes in the upcoming V3 release to improve compatibility with frame generation mods? It also seems possible that a small update or adjustment to V2 could be enough to make OptiScaler’s frame generation work. It would be fantastic if both could work together, as they would make a great combination. I’m hoping this might be something you could look into, and I’ll continue following your projects with great interest. Thank you for your work!

SnowyMoon was doing things that Artificial Intelligence does now long before. He was and still is ahead of it. I will agree with you, SnowyMoon.

I agree with you

log pro had hdr support but it buried too soon, I unsub :-(

RealityHack

Ya and had a lot of flickering and aliasing with HDR and LOG. The game looked better at high scaling and in game TAA than with LOG. DLSS hooking should be before HDR…

As a professional artist and someone who constantly advocates for solidarity between creative workers, I really appreciate it and it makes me support this project more. Ethical concerns aside, the public is being gaslighted about the efficiency of vibe-coding, there has been numerous reddit posts about people experimenting with simple coding commands, as simple as "hello world". AI would add unnecessary bloat and the code would return errors every time. Every time you ask to fix them, it'd just add more bloat. Hundreds lines of texts for something that a human could do with a few lines. It's vastly inefficient and, if anything, will lead to massive waste in power and resources, would make trouble-shooting harder and make apps vastly under-optimized. At least for this reason you should avoid AI. From psychological point of view, research shows people who use AI in their work see their cognition affected as the person "lends" a part of their thinking to the machine, which is probably what happens with many people in those comments. Aside from cognitive impact on tests compared to being constantly drunk, AI subscriptions cost money and we would prefer to NOT be hooked on a technology that's rapidly losing money every year. Where will our skills go the moment bubble bursts? Relying on AI is not only making you a slave of oligarchy who sold you a subscription, but affects person's cognition and even empathy long-term. We must be empathetic to human labour and human culture humans create. AI is extremely unreliable. But even if it wasn't, it has no place in human culture. As of recent, there has been concerns on how often AIs can inject malware into the code without supervision. DLL-based mods for different games are getting injected with malware, undermining the trust. Chances are, if I see a vibe-coded product, I'd just drop all support to such a project - I won't care about the fact that vibe-coders need to compensate for the cost of AI subscriptions.

LuneBat

You're the only arrogant fool here.

LuneBat

@snowy moon notice how all AI-apologists straight up insult you that you're not sharing their religion.

I come with a simple question for all these AI lovers. Can you create the Snowymoon effect with AI? I tell you for sure that AI will not be able to do what Snowymoon does so go and have fun with AI and leave this man alone to do his product as he desires.
