Now that Halloween is out of the way, there's the question of what to do next. As usual I have lots of things to pick from, so the first trick will be not overwhelming myself. For some of the things on my list, lately I'm feeling a bit rudderless. And in any case, grief still hitting me in waves every month can scuttle my plans for a few days at a time.

Perhaps the biggest thing I need to work on this month, is a new animation reel. I've been out of work for over a year, and my animation reel is several years out of date.

In addition to animation, I should also put together a technical/rigging reel. I'm not entirely certain how to show off that kind of work, and technical reels on Youtube haven't been much help.

On the media preservation front, last night I rendered out my latest revision of the French version of Sanrio's Winds of Change. It's far from the final revision but I haven't decided how much more work I'll be putting into it, in the short term. Back in July I learned that there may be a better, more visually complete version of the western cut, that was released on VHS in Sweden. That Swedish tape may be so difficult to find that it might as well not exist, but now that I know it does exist... I've had so many stops and restarts on this project already, it's hard to want to line up another.

I've been meaning to make a video on Winds of Change for some time, and recently have had other ideas for Youtube as well. Nothing that I could talk about endlessly on a regular basis, but I monthly videos wouldn't be impossible.

In terms of art, at minimum there are plenty of Mimi ideas that can be worked on further. The 6-page comic I'd originally had planned for Halloween, could now be worked on with an April 1st release date in mind. Mary visiting Daisy as part of the current Long Weekend storyline is something else I've been thinking about. Much like Alice & Violet's visit, having Mary pop in will help me build out her character and the world a bit further.

Commissions are still another possibility, though a complicated one. I'd need to determine pricing, first, and how many I can take on without getting overwhelmed. While it could just be that I'm out of practice, lately working on illustrations has been giving me the same sort of anxiety I'd had leading up to my animation burn-out.
