In this tutorial, we'll paint a simple sunset landscape using just a handful of colors. It's a great exercise for practicing smooth gradients, creating atmospheric light, and mixing a wide range of hues from a limited palette.

Colors used:🎨 Hansa Yellow Deep by Daniel Smith🎨 Cadmium Red Deep by PWC🎨 Prussian Blue by Daniel Smith🎨 Payne's Grey by Van Gogh

The main colors are the three primary colors—yellow, red, and blue—which makes this a perfect study in color mixing. You'll see how many beautiful sunset shades you can create without relying on a large palette.

Materials:

Baohong 100% cotton watercolor paper (cold-pressed)

Watercolor paints listed above

Round watercolor brush

You can use other watercolor paper but make sure to use 100% cotton. The quality of the paper influences final results dramatically. As always, feel free to paint along with me or use the techniques from this lesson to create your own sunset scene. I hope you enjoy the process and discover just how much you can achieve with a simple palette.

Happy painting! 💛
