Hello, my dear Patrons!
We’re starting our little landscape journey with this peaceful boat scene surrounded by mountains and soft reflections on the water. I chose this reference because it’s a great way to practice creating depth with background layers — and yes, reflections again… I know 😄 But I simply fell in love with this calm atmosphere and dreamy color palette.
Finding the right blue shades for this painting was actually quite a challenge! Some of the colors I used are a bit niche, so throughout the tutorial, I also explain how you can easily replace them with more common colors or simple mixes you probably already have in your palette.
Here are the materials I used:
Watercolor Paper:• Baohong 100% cotton, 300 gsm, cold-pressed (use my code alc103373 in Temu app for 30% off your order over $20)
Watercolors:• Mijello Blue by Mijello Mission (or Ultramarine Blue)• King’s Royal Blue by Daniel Smith (or Lavender)• Jaune Brilliant #2 by Mijello Mission (or mix yellow + red + white)• Payne’s Grey by Van Gogh• Lavender by White Nights (for final accents, can be replaced with Zinc White)• Shadow Violet by Mijello Mission (optional)
Brushes:
ArtSecret #2 with French holder (goat hair)
Fuumuui #8 round travel brush (squirrel hair)
liner Brush
As always, you’ll find the reference photo and a simple sketch attached.
