Last weekend I went to Sweden to visit my childhood friend who recently moved to the outskirts of Stockholm. We spent an amazing time at her house in the woods — the atmosphere was so peaceful.

As Tanya joked, “the weather was a paid actor” — we were lucky to have sunny and warm days, which is quite unusual for this time of year in Sweden. We went for long walks in the forest, and I took a few reference photos of mushrooms that I plan to paint later.

We also spent time journaling together, which turned out to be such a calming and meditative practice.

Tanya is a passionate knitter, and she even taught me how to knit! I’m not sure if I’ll create something yet, but it was fun to learn a new skill.

We’ve been friends since kindergarten and used to live in neighboring buildings. Sometimes it feels hard that we now live in different countries, but at the same time, I’m grateful that we can visit each other and create new memories in new places. 🌿

Qué belleza Ale. El lugar es soñado. Y compartido con gente amiga y querida, más aún.

Great photos ! Makes me want to visit. You could totally do some awesome urban sketches with these photos also … journaling with a friend ? Mushrooms in the woods ? All perfect time spent.

Thank you so much! 😊 It really was such a special trip — the light, the forest, and all those little mushrooms were just asking to be painted! 🍄 I actually thought about doing some urban sketches from the photos too — Stockholm has so much charm and beautiful color palettes everywhere. And yes, journaling together made it even more peaceful and grounding. 💛
