Back At It!!! (Whats in store for September) (very good bug joke included) (Patreon)

Hi everyone! I'm finally back on the East Coast. The last two weeks absolutely FLEW by -- I gotta say, I love doing amusement work, but after over 40 hours of building haunted houses in the summer sun (I DEFINITELY got sunburned on my shoulders lol) I'm so much happier to be back in the video game zone hahahaa
Anyway, just wanted to write a quick post letting you know what's going on for September, since it's right around the corner! I'm planning to use this upcoming month as a catch-up on all projects i had to put on hold while out of town, so there will be no vote for September's game. Instead, here's what I'll be working on:
Small fun video about media literacy! - Some of you may remember that I had tapped my friend nate to edit some future videos for me. Yesterday I filmed a new short video about media literacy (basically, how to tell if an upcoming cozy game is going to be a scam or not) and handed off the footage, so this will be his first video! And that means if all goes well, there will be TWO videos released in September
Big, sort of secret video project! - I've been working on this video since July. The topic it covers might not be as "in the news" as it was before, but I still think its super important, and it's been really fun doing the research and getting in the weeds on it. I want to keep the topic a surprise until it drops, but I'll be sharing how far along I am in these upcoming posts
Bug Boy Summer! - yes, I'm gonna make a game about collecting little bug guys, which was the theme voted on back at the start of August! I have the ui and general game loop drawn up, and im excited to start programming it.
Trash Idol! See, I TOLD you this was gonna come back eventually! I have been completely reworking this game in my free time, and soon I will prepare a post describing my intentions for the new format + hopefully some new art.
finally, If there is time, I'd like to go into my past games to do some bug squishing and patching. As I'm getting better at programming, its getting a lot easier to fix problems players encounter (and I want to practice fixing them!) but the only thing that has held me back so far is that I never make time for it. So if everything else this month wraps, I'll be digging into the itch.io archives and making some long-awaited improvements to old games.
Looks like an already pretty stacked calendar! Missed you all so much and I'm so excited to get back to doing my favorite pasttime: making and yapping about video games. So stay tuned for more updates this month on all these projects. As always, here's your sign-off joke!
Q: Which kind of bug has the best smell?
