My Patreon page is now paused until the next content update is released! This means current Patrons will remain Patrons and will not have their cards automatically charged on the 1st of the month until the Patreon page is un-paused, after which current Patrons will be charged on the following 1st of the month like usual. However, please note this doesn’t mean I’m leaving, taking a vacation, or planning to be absent. Hotpatches will still be posted while my Patreon is paused, and I will still be actively working on the mod and in the discord.

For clarity, a Content Update is when I add new features to the mod, as opposed to a Hotpatch where I perform maintenance on the mod to keep currently included features working and up to date with the latest game and WW changes. The top of my next content update post will announce when my Patreon is un-paused.

I have paused my Patreon for one month almost every year since I’ve been on Patreon. It’s not unusual for a creator to hit a bit of a burnout state and need to step away from the pressure of getting a content update out or to take time to recenter and reorient themselves. So, you’d think this wouldn’t be such a difficult task, but it is. I hate doing it, as I should. Not so much because of the loss of income but because I feel I may let my supporters down. For those patrons that follow my discord, this may be a bit of a rehash. I was building towards my Succubi True Occult Form System for years. I put a lot of myself into this system and the course of its development had dramatic ups and down. Breakthroughs mixed with points of low along the way which kept me on my heels, constantly ready to pivot. ‘What if’ scenarios running through my head while frantically debugging and rethinking my approach to systems. True occults have never been achieved for any cc occult in any sims game and was essential for my dream of what I wanted my succubi to be. What if it weren’t possible? It was highly likely. I knew this when I started out. And if it were not for the support I received by my Patrons, I would not have been able to dedicate the time I did to crack the system. I will not revisit the entire history of succubi development here as I have already done so in other places. Suffice it to say, as I grew closer and closer to getting Succubi out, my desire to see them release grew as well. I pushed myself late into the night many nights. Going to sleep thinking about occult forms, waking up thinking about occult forms. Jokingly, in some ways I'm a victim of the succubi which I was creating. Then about a month or two before the release of true occult forms, I knew I hit past the last breakthrough. There was still work to complete but what was left were problems I know could be worked out. I could see the full solution in my head. It was an incredible high that lasted a solid week. True occult forms have been cracked. They are coming.

And then they did. So much of my time as a modder was building towards reaching this singular point. It was the direction on my compass and the wind against my sails. After the True Occult Form System came out, I hit a directionless burnout state. Maybe more accurately, a tailspin. I’ve never been so unfocused. If that were not hard enough, I also hit a post creation depressive state from reaching such a high point that every other challenge now seemed so small.

How does one recover from a tailspin? Is it like a finger trap? The harder you pull, the more difficult it is to get out? Is it like a plane? Put everything in the neutral configuration, fight the direction of the spin with the rudder and pray as you force restart the engines?

In truth, I don’t think there is a singular answer, but I have not been sitting idly by. Those on discord will know I have three projects in different stages of completion. A piercing system overhaul, a goofy new kink state for Succubi, and better strip club integration for Succubi. In the background I’ve also have two collaborations planned. One will bring a new mechanic to The Sims 4, the other will bring a very hotly wanted gameplay feature much later. However, this isn’t really meant to me a work in progress post. More details on these features have been and will be shared on my Discord for those interested.

This is a notice of pause, and a letter to my Patrons. I don’t take your support lightly. Content will come again and when it does the Patreon will un-pause.

Thank you for your faith in me!

Your health and happiness are the most important things. I am a patron here not expecting content every month but because I believe in the content that your creating. We're all here because you've created absolutely wonderful experiences for us.

"...but because I feel I may let my supporters down...." this kind of mindset speaks for you but can burn you out even more. I think a lot of us know how there are some lows in life sometimes being it job, family or health related and the state you describe is quite common but usually it is not much spoken about it. The best you can do is really take some steps back for a little while and do some nice and positive things for YOU and nobody else but YOU. While True Occult is surely a big thing for modding, it isn't automatically meaning that every other aspect is less worth for us common gamers even if some stuff is not that hard to accomplish. ;-) Just know that most of us are happy about any mod which adds features independend of their complexity. :-) Take care.

Thank you Xpsfm for taking time reply! I don't put much stock into this theory but I heard that psychopaths make the best CEOs. If this is true then I bet it's because they don't let their shortcomings or low periods weigh them down. (While I can believe there are psycopathic CEOs, I suspect it's more about learning to regulate your emotions than it is about a global deficit in CEOs capacity to feel). Don't worry I'm not quitting or anything of the sort. However, I've had a few recommend I take a vacation on Discord. Which I may or may not take. I think there's wisdom in knowing when one needs to step away for a short time and allow themselves to be 'unproductive' so they can be more productive later.

You could take 2 months off and I'd be here waiting even if I was the only one (which I know for a fact I wouldn't be) We all value you as a person, hard worker and your dedication to your craft. We don't just stay cause we want naughty mods, we stay because who you are shines through. As a different type of artist but regardless of the genre the burnout is real and something we understand. Find your center and we will be here, when you get back. :)

Thank you! All the kind messages I've received from Patrons on here and in DMs have been really comforting. I'll keep these messages with me for when my thoughts weigh heavy in the future!

It must be in the universe because friends and family across the states are going through this same thing. myself included. sometimes we just need to pause. be well.

It does seem like something is in the air. Maybe the psychological toll from a year of lockdown and anxieties. Yo-Yo Ma released a new single "You'll Never Walk Alone" recently. In the news article for the release he said: “As alienating and isolating as life has felt this past year, the day will come when communities can join together once more: in celebration, in grief, in hope, in music... we were determined to find a way to help support our colleagues in what is essentially the bleakest of times for the musical profession.” I think there's something about interacting with other people. It's like a vitamin. It both gives us strength to build and heals the wounds to our psyche. I think you have it right. When an emotional storm hits you and the winds keep blowing you down, it is only natural to try to retreat. Make yourself small. Seek shelter in isolation. I think in such times, and especially during these times, it is important to remember "you never have to walk alone." The messages I've gotten from everyone here have meant so much to me, I think I'll try to find someone in my life this weekend that could use the same warmth. Perhaps that's the very vitamin we need. Community, to help us weather through this storm. Thank you for weathering it with me.

I'll definitely be here! You've been one of my favorite mod creators in the sims 4, and my game experience wouldn't be the same without your influence in it ♥ Take your time, we appreciate all the work you've done already.

I agree, and you and yoyo hit it on the head. humans are social animals. people are so angry these days for no reason or depressed and anxious, thinking no one understands how they feel when really everyone feeling the same. I decided to find that someone as well just today, so I encourage you to do. the worst that will happen is they may give you reason to think isolation may not have been a bad thing hahahaa though i doubt it. No need to reply, I think I'll lose myself in a good movie so I wouldn't see it anyway till sometime this week. but please do take time for yourself without worry. We got this, you never walk alone :D

Much love <3

You can never let us down! I wouldn't even want to play the Sims without the work you have already done. Taking care of yourself is the single most important thing you can do in your life. You should be proud of yourself for recognizing and doing just that. :D

James Bender

i wonder if you can add a trait to the reward store for tight sims "no pain" if they have sex again.

Rachel

I've told you before that I admire you for your integrity and work ethic. I just want to remind you that you are one of my favorite creators. Your content is amazing. I'd gladly pay for a month without content if it meant supporting you and your creations. Thank you for being...you! :)

Mystress Riziera

Take ur time darling. Sometimes you have to take time out for yourself to recuperate, you have brought so much kink and sweet rewards to our sims lives so me and my sims thank you from the bottom of our cold tiny hearts. You do you and I look forward to seeing you come back with full force <3

kJude

Take the time you need and, like others, were you to charge me during the pause I don't think I'd mind. The mods you provide us gamers are entertaining as all get out. We can wait while you give yourself the time to decompress and let the creative tank fill again. Be well

natalie brathwaite

Take as much time as you need, I'll still be here when you come back.

Shando

You are so awesome, in the top tier of creators/modders who push the limits to redefine what's possible. I've been using your mod for years and have been continuously impressed by your work - the creativity; the constant optimization to make things better and better; your interactivity with the community. A break is normal, please don't feel guilty about needing some time to recharge!
