I was listening to your new video and was literally thinking "hes definitely gonna do a Killraven patreon exclusive at some point isn't he?"

Fish_Hemsworth

I think my first exposure to Killraven was a trade paperback collection of an Avengers run. Can’t remember who wrote it, I think John Romita Jr. drew it, but the entire plot was Steve assembling the three new Avengers teams after the events of Dark Reign, and Kang broke time so bad in a war against Kang in a possible future with versions of the Next Avengers, the children of a couple current Avengers from an animated movie? I had no idea what was going on, only that I thought Kang was cool, I was obsessed with the concept of time travel at the time, and that Killraven maybe was disintegrated or something from a Martian blast. It was a while ago, I think I lost the book in storage or something.

Loganjt 791

I’m so excited for every one of these characters to be added to marvel contest of champions

LegendofLiamD

What in the SHOCK is that title?

DRL

Sir Superhero lore- he's YOUNGER than me!?! (By a year, granted- I was born in '99, but it's still weird to learn that lol)

Colton Renaud

first up PLEASE DO AN ALPHA FLIGHT VIDEO now that is out of the way watching it i realised something off as to my understanding the guardians of the galaxy we know now is the second incarnation of the team created by peter quill so how the hell does that fit into the timeline as we see them interact with characters like spiderman for example

Braden Merriman

Do you think youll ever reupload your old tiktok short videos

Curt Clark

The title alone has me going crosseyed. This is gonna be WILD.

Traffy

After having to explain the super niche killraven pull from infinity warps I preemptively read up on killraven for this specific purpose

Charlie Poat

As soon as you mentioned Killraven last video, I figure he might be the next exclusive video. So maybe New Universe next.

Trishial

The reference to RHPS is really disappointing, as that film is a huge transphobic stain on the queer community. Genuinely put a pit in my stomach that you mentioned such an awful transmisogynistic charicature so casually. I'm sure it's from lack of information, but it tainted the video for me regardless.

Sam Lewis

"The Free Men" and there's one black guy who's somehow also clearly supposed to be Indian. Ah, the 70s. And all of the background Freemen are also white (at least that you showed on screen). But hey, at least he got an interracial kiss.

SK372

Nothing hits quite like a Sir Superhero vid on one of the many Blorbos of Marvel's earlier years. (And hey, still a better War of the Worlds than that recent movie adaptation.)

Liam Byers

Holy shit, they made a comic book out of the award-winning motion picture starring Ice Cube?! (On a related note, it's been debated whether the Orson Welles broadcast actually caused as much panic as its reputation suggests or if it was something newspapers made up to discredit radio as a medium)

Benjamin Newlon

The setting feels a bit like He-Man, with the largely regular guy with a sword, the weird monsters, and the strange allies

daredevil fan

Mister Superhero, do you think you might ever make a daredevil related video? I understand that the man himself is too big for you to cover, but maybe a semi related video such as his sidekick Blindspot or maybe one of his funny old villains? Daredevil is my favorite superhero so I would love that. I'll keep watching your amazing content either way, can't wait to see the next one!

Choca

I don't want to be a buzzkill, but I feel compelled to make a rather pedantic point about something you said in the intro: At the time, hardly anyone believed the radio adaptation of 'The War of the Worlds' was a genuine news broadcast, it was the night before Halloween, so people were expecting scary stories, and several disclaimers clarifying the fictional nature of the work accompanied the broadcast. The media simply frowned upon airing such a program while tensions were already mounting ahead of a world war, they then fabricated exaggerated accounts of the aftermath, stories that persist to this day as an urban myth. That said, I loved your video. :)

Casey Thomasson

Amazing video! My first exposure to Killraven was in Kurt Busiek and the late, great Carlos Pacheco’s Avengers Forever maxi-series in the late 90’s, where some time traveling Avengers land in a VERSION(?) of his timeline in which the Freemen are made up of a pregnant Jocasta, elderly Black Panther, Titania and the Crimson Dynamo. Now that I type that out, may I humbly request an Avengers Forever video?? I think you’d have fun with that one…

Victoria Wesson

What do you mean you're 3 years younger than me??

Matthew Drew

You name dropped Forbush Man in the YouTube video as well. Patreon future episode or freak of the week?

Charlie Dayson

Original Guardians first appeared in 1968, and were from the year 3000 (later retconned to be a parallel universe, earth-691, as Sir Superhero explained in the video), but had pretty regular time-travel shenanigans where they do fun stuff like have Justice meet his child self and be the person who inspires him to be a hero (which happens in that defenders comic. the guardians can have a little time paradox, as a treat). This is the team that Yondu, Starhawk, and Major Victory/Justice are on. How do they time travel? don't worry about it. It's a 70s space opera comic, the tech is mostly 'whatever makes a fun story happen'. Then much later (2007/8), we got a present day/main universe Guardians (presumably the inspiration for the far future Guardians, given the future team led by Justice, who is a man out of time character who is active as a hero in current time, but will later get thrown into the far future and lead the guardians). This is the team that Star Lord is on, Rocket, Gamora, etc, all the guys from the movies. So if the guardians team up with spiderman, and yondu or justice is there, it's time travel nonsense. If they team up and Quill is there, it's just a regular team up!

Christopher Ulichney

Been on the bubble about buying the Killraven trade for a while now. You may have pushed me into it.

Emissary of Elation

Ey, fellow millennium baby. Knew there was a reason I liked you 🤝

IronJudge

Love the video, got to see a side of Marvel I haven't really engaged with! Also, just want to say your videos inspired me to pick a few characters and read every appearance they've had to see how they change throughout

weavves

Commenting before I watch to say I really hope you bring up Paul Cornell's 2006 Pete Wisdom miniseries and the 616 version of Jonathan Raven (who has almost nothing to do with Killraven other than being the same person in a different timeline probably) who also lives through a War of the Worlds invasion but is mostly notable as Pete's girlfriend's son.

Style from Krakoa

Combo man would have been amazing! I had the entire set of cards of when I was younger. But I understand. :(

- Wild coincidence, last week my Understanding Media lecturer brought up the irl War of the Worlds radio scare which I already knew about cause that kinda stuff is fascinating to me (Welles played Unicron in The Transformers The Movie as the last role he ever had iirc and did not give two shits about it so I wanted to see other stuff he had done and learned about the WotW thing from that lmao) - Don't worry Matt, I didn't know how to pronounce poignant (poyn-yant) to start either. - KILLRAVEN SHOWED UP IN EARTH-X?? - Earth-X to me reads as Alex Ross having ideas but not being a strong enough writer to pull them off in a way that's satisfying, let alone appealing. At least to who I am as a person anyway. Some of the ideas are conceptually interesting (Machine Man's whole thing as basically a new Watcher for one) but I actively dislike that explanation for/treatment of mutants. - Killraven (at least temporarily) joining up with a fascist world could honestly kinda be wildly applicable commentary. He fought against a group enslaving him and people like him, but when he found a place where the leader of the group wanted him alongside her, he abandoned any pretense about actually being against slavery. I doubt it was handled well, but it could definitely be a topic of satire if written in a better story, especially relating to some of the dickheads living irl right now. - Oh hey another Defenders reference - Killraven is a character/series I am more than content not getting any more of

Brian

The Free men? Is any of them named Gordon?

The Wizard Sea

I keep finding out my favorite creators are the same age as me, this is delightful.

Liam Byers

Addendum: Okay I was NOT expecting Planet of the Apes to figure into this.

Salem

Fell asleep to this; when I woke up I was SUPER confused lmao

Salmi Mohssin

Wait does that mean that the defenders from when the guardians of the galaxy show up are from the universe where the martians take over earth ???? 🤨🤨

L Tantivy

Warrior of the Worlds is a great title for a lighter toned War of the Worlds sequel.

Adren Bailey

Didn't he appear in a marvel zombies comic? Also a great topic for Halloween.

Boohawk

Wow. That was... a trip. A very good trip, but man did I have such a roller-coaster of emotions. Well, I say roller-coaster, but really it was just straight unexpected funny nonsense. Let's see... First. Marvel really just said, "Uh, yeah sure this is definitely a sequel." Second. Wait- what? You're only four years older than me? I don't know why this was such a surprise to me, but I felt like mentioning it. Third. Killraven can kill a man from a standing position. Fourth. Deathraven being a werewolf is so out of left field, I love it. Fifth. "His primary role is essentially fucking Hitler" What a line. Love to see that Killraven's priorities are completely in order and not thrown out the window when pretty multiverse Hitler shows up. Sixth. Claws 2 is another out of left field thing, love that randomness. Seventh. Sure. Why not. Let's throw MORE apes into this!

JohnTheBudderman

Fully expected a plug for the Captain Britain video during the Paradise X section, then I remembered it's patreon and you don't really have to plug yourself lmao

ButteryCrumpit

PLEASE DO AN ALPHA FLIGHT VIDEO WE JUST HAD CANADA DAY SO LIKE YOU SHOULD DO ONE……. Pretty please 🙇‍♂️

Matthew Perry

Wait, wait, wait...so, Killraven is just Carl from DCC?

UsernameMK

Yeah, I was *baffled* by that

UsernameMK

It's kinda worth noting that Sat-yr-9 has mind control powers, that Killraven's Computer literally warns him she's using in one of the panels you showed only for him to disregard it. So...he doesn't *quite* just 'fall in love with a fascist and stay there,' it's explicitly written as 'he gets mind-controlled by a fascist into being her consort in a way he's intellectually unprepared to encounter and physically incapable of resisting, and no one ever does anything about it.'

Zachary Schmitt

It might've neat if they said that the Martian invasion never happened in the 1890s, but *did* happen in 1938, and the Orson Welles broadcast was in fact real, but that because the world's governments, not wanting a panic on the eve of WWII, sent Steve Rogers or whomever to deal with it and then convinced Welles to "admit" to it being a stumt based on a (fake in universe) "novel." Hell, even have Welles write the fake novel himself under the pen name H.G. Wells (and claim it was written in thr 1890s but was obscure enough few had heard of it) and as a reward for his silence Welles was given his RKO contract and the freedom to make whatever he wanted.

PlayMeOut

Steve Rogers Angel is batshit wilddd I would 100% consume an Earth X video 👀👀

Fishdragon

Always crazy to me that i'm just a smidge older than this guy lol

Seventh Chariot

just came here to say my excitement for the Jubilee video in 3 days

JZ

I in fact did not know about Ape Slayer 😂😂 the name alone 🔥

JZ

I in fact did not know about Ape Slayer 😂😂 the name alone 🔥

KatzRKewl

Why is this in the Patreon Exclusives?

GainedData

It is my personal head cannon that 9/11 somehow convinced the Martians to not invade

The Dingo

Holy cheese on a cracker - I know a lot about Marvel lore and knew none of this and I'm left slapping my head in "on my god what did I just learn" fashion

Sean Spockamania

So how do we think Wolverine handled the original 1890s invasion? He was alive then, so he would have had done something there, right?

E-Currency

Sorry if this gets noted later in video but in case it isn't, If you're anything like me you heard how far back we're going and wondered if Killraven is public domain, he's not.

Nandos

Is it a stain on the community? I'll preface this with clarifying that I by no means know all the nuance in regards to RHPS, and while I'm part of the LGBT community, I'm not Trans and have very little involvement in the community aside from some minor interactions with Trans mutual friends. I've also not watched RHPS in like, a decade. With all that said, from what I know of the movie, while it's definitely offensive and has a lot of outdated views that may negatively impact the Queer community, it was, at the time, quite monumental in some circles of the Queer community as it helped a lot of people. So while the movie is of course very outdated and the ideology isn't up to snuff with modern LGBT ideology, it's still an iconic film that many look on fondly. I don't think a reference to the film, especially just to compare costume designs that are similar, should taint a video that otherwise has nothing to do with it, and that doesn't even go into Sir_Superheroes opinions of the movie Edit: Also I'm not at all trying to disregard your feelings and stance on the matter, just sharing my own thoughts and interested in learning more about the topic if I'm not correct in my knowledge of the subject 🫶

Trishial

I'm a transgender woman. RHPS is literally about a "transexual transvestite from transylvania" kidnapping and raping men. I really don't know why this needs to be explained. The "joke" is that "she's actually a he!" It's all in poor taste

Dominik Plejić

We actually know where the timelines diverge: during one Guardians/Avengers crossover, Vance Astro interacts with his younger self and convinces him not to become an astronaut.

I haven’t finished the video yet so maybe this is brought up, but I do find it kind of weird that Killraven is meant to be a sequel of sorts to War Of The Worlds but what the aliens want humans for is seemingly completely different. In the original story, they were basically creatures that only had a brain, tentacles, and a cardiovascular system, and used their tools for everything else - including sustaining themselves by sucking the blood out of humans they capture. The Martians wanted humans for livestock, to feed on, along with colonizing earth because Mars was having a bit of a climate crisis and they wanted to escape. Humanity aren't seen as much more than animals by the Martians. So seeing humans be used as slaves or even given roles of authority by Martians is kinda weird? It’s giving humans a personhood the Martians did not see in humanity and thats kinda part of the horror of the story.
