Onward Into 2026 (Patreon)

Last night, while driving home two friends who were too tipsy to drive home after the New Year’s Eve party I hosted with my fiancé, one of them was sighing in the passenger seat of the car. I asked if he was okay, and other friend told he does this. The sigher commented he was just always reevaluating the decisions he made in life, and I get that. I quipped though now wasn’t the time for that and really 2:30 AM isn’t a good time for thoughts like that.
The truth is, I’m not sure there’s ever a time to judge all the decisions we’ve made in life, and go, “you know, if I did it differently…” Yet, I absolutely was doing some of that in 2025, and I said in my recap post yesterday, I’ve been struggling. I’ve had my own metaphorical 2:30 AM reevaluations of what I’ve been doing. Right now, so many things feel uncertain, and the headwinds are getting stronger when it comes to promoting writing in the age of AI and an increasingly noisy social media landscape. I’ve already published five books, two of which are novels. What’s next?
Well, this year, the goal is to keep going, because keeping moving is one thing I feel I can certainly do. Human written content is more important than ever, and I plan to keep on doing it. On that end, I’m aiming to get a complete draft of my third novel by the end of the year, Shadows of the Spotted Swordsman. That feel’s ambitious, but I’ve going to do it. Not only that, I will be finishing the poetry chapbook I’ve been working on and get that out this summer. Knotty Works 2 is also still in the works, but once I figure out the timeline for editing Shadows of the Spotted Swordsman, I’ll see where that fits in with my release plans.
So 2026, I’m coming at full speed!
