I'm excited to get back to looking at environments today and I thought it might be helpful to just record some thoughts that I had while walking through the RE7 basement area. I used a lot of this area to inspire my recent Horror Basement Environment I created. In the next video, we'll be actually using those assets to create a new environment and I'll show my full process of environment creation, lighting, etc. Enjoy and thank you all for your support!

Whether you're building horror games or just want to improve your level design skills, this breakdown will help you understand: ✅ How Resident Evil 7 uses lighting to guide tension ✅ The importance of grime, clutter, and storytelling props ✅ Why “ugly” environments often feel the most real ✅ How to analyze reference and build your own unique version ✅ How to apply this to Unreal Engine 5 environment design In the next video, I’ll be taking the inspiration and notes from this walkthrough and using assets from my Horror Basement Environment Pack to create a brand-new environment that captures the same mood and storytelling style seen in Resident Evil 7. If you’re working on a horror game, environment art portfolio, or just love game design analysis—this one’s for you. #residentevil7 #environmentartist #unrealengine5 Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil 7 basement, game environment design, horror level design, Unreal Engine 5 environment, environment art tutorial, level design breakdown, UE5 horror environment, horror game design, game dev environment art, clutter and grime in games, resident evil level analysis, environment storytelling, unreal engine horror level, reference based level design, game dev tips, horror game environment, game asset placement tips, lighting design in games, game level design tutorial
