In this new tutorial, I’m diving into the foundations of timeless ambient and breaking down the elements that give this style its depth, patience, and emotional weight. We’ll look at how to shape the core layers of a track so it feels immersive from the start, with a focus on texture, tone, space, and the kind of subtle movement that keeps ambient music alive without forcing it.

What I wanted to do with this one was get back to the heart of what makes ambient work in the first place. Not trends, not gimmicks, just the deeper principles behind building something that feels spacious, intentional, and lasting. If you’ve been wanting to create ambient that feels more true to the genre and less like a collection of presets floating in reverb, this tutorial will give you a strong foundation to build from.

it's definitely ambient, but my ears are expecting some Robert Smith vocals to come in at any moment - really rings of old Disintegration era Cure for me!

Chris - following your tutorial but am unable to find the 40K wavetable pack on the Patreon site. Were these released on here? This is beautiful, by the way - you really should do more major key ambient! Thanks!
