Hi,

yesterday I finally received my Mac Studio Ultra M3 I ordered 3 month ago. Fortunately I still ordered it before Apple raised the prices due to the memory crunch. They upped prices by 1600 $ for that machine...Anyway, I migrated my entire SDK over, wrestled with some network and hardware setup issues but so far all seemed to transfer ok.To test it I made this still frame from the Seraphine Hopper Animation. Renders about 2x as fast as with my old M1.

Fingers crossed that all other stuff (VSCode, Renpy, Blender ...) also has been transferred correctly and works with the new OS that came with this machine. So the next few days I will do some tests before I do the full switch to the new machine.Worst case I can just plug the old one back in again and continue there... :)y.v.

Best wishes with your new machine. Love the new picture with the Princess.

Holy cow! 😲 **$1,600** (about **€1,300**)?! That's quite an impressive price hike. Someone must have been feeling rather optimistic. 😄 Is that purely down to the memory market, or have the reported performance differences between the M3, M4, and M5 generations also made some of the older models unexpectedly good value? Good luck with the new hardware, by the way! From everything I've heard, it seems to be quite a remarkable piece of kit.

Actually the M1 Ultra 64GB I had cost me 4.999 EUR at the time (4 years ago). So apple indeed reduced the price for the M3 96GByte to 4799EUR. I paid that (minus 800 VAT I get back). But now its 6299 EUR so actually 1.500 EUR hike :(

Probably all memory crunch (that was their argument)

Yeah... cause it's absoluetly unheard of that companies raise prices as long as they have a plausible reason :þ

What actually is unheard of is, that companies lower their prices even if they do have every reason to do so. You can see this on the gas stations, for example: any small raise in the crude oil price - the gas price goes up immediately (even though it was bought before the raise). However, it takes months for them to get back to the previous level once this small price jump is resolved. Why lower prices if people are going to pay anyway?
