I'm back.

I don't know where to begin. How long has it been since I left? A good three years now? A lot has happened since then and there's a lot to talk about. I know some of you have tried to contact me during my absence, but let's just say I was not in a good place to respond. To put it short, I've been going through a prolonged depression. Half of it is due to my unstable housing situation, the other half I'll explain in my DA journal tomorrow. During my last post, I was in the middle of an eviction. That dragged on interminably as it was incredibly difficult to find a new place to stay. The stress of house-searching consumed my time, and even later the place I eventually settled on out of desperation was half the size of my previous accommodation. It was cramped... so cramped that I felt trapped in this dead-end lifestyle with little incentive to be creative. My love of drawing hasn't availed me much if this is the life I've earned from it.

And then came another eviction. My landlord had a sick friend he wanted to give my room to, so I had to move out. Once again, the search took months with many rejections or inadequate residences. My landlord's patience wore thin and I just grew more and more frustrated. Finally I caught a break. I found an affordable place in the north of the city that's a step up from my previous home. It's roomier and far less stressful than before, so for the first time in three years I feel like I've finally been able to sit back and relax.

With a little more room to breathe, I want to get back to the drawing board and pick up where I left off. Obviously my primary concern is continuing Sonic Retold, since I'm sure you're all eager to find out what happens now that we've reached the point where the original Archie Sonic timeline ended. I started this comic to bring some sense of closure to the Mecha Sally arc and I'll be damned if I don't do that. Despite my aforementioned lull, I have drawn a few pages during my absence, so I can start issue #6 right away with a comfortable buffer. I've also included the Off-Panel and Sonic Retold-Grams pages for issue #5, since those were never uploaded before my departure. Updates will be weekly as usual with advance pages available here on Patreon. Eggman is defeated and Team Fighters have recovered Princess Sally, but the prospect of deroboticizing her lies ahead, and Naugus has his own hand to play before the day is done. What happens next? Keep reading to find out.

I hope you'll forgive my prolonged absence due to personal problems. Just be glad that I'm back now and ready to continue my webcomic. Onward with the story.

Goodness... It's a HUGE relief to know that you are alive (I'm not kidding) ; many of us feared the worst... The only hint that has kept me hope is that, all those years, the subscriptions of your account have remained active and that my (modest) monthly donation has never been deactivated ; so I was suspecting that your bank account was still active (and that you were still somehow active, thus alive). I'm glad I never not gave up hoping your return... and that you did not give either! Seriously, my feelings about this are rather mixed. Even if we all knew back in 2022-2023 that you were already facing a lot of personal difficulties, we were expecting at least a bit of news from you. We could have understood that you were facing another hard time, that you needed a break for an undefined amount of time, but at least just to reassure us from time to time that you were still somehow safe and alive. On the other hand, I've never experienced depression so far (luckily for me), so I'm probably in a bad position to judge your behaviour, let alone to comprehend the depressing feelings that you went through and that made you cease all communications with us for so long. So... I would said that I will half-forgive you for the total silence for the past three years. As for the absence of drawing or any artistic content, it was totally okay for me: your personal health is far more valuable than our comfort as readers/followers. Even if you have to stop drawing again for personal or health reason, I won't stop my subscription even so. Anyways, welcome back! I would suggest that you do not post your new drawings and issues too quick on Deviantart: it may be wise to let all the people process on your fresh return for the few coming days.
