What I created this month // August 2026 (Patreon)

Summer is officially coming to a close in the northern hemisphere, and the coziest months are just around the corner 🎃 I am very excited for my favorite months! Here's a recap of everything I made this month in case you missed it ~

This month's tutorial was on 5 ways to boost your focal point! Having a clear focal point is so important - it makes your art eye-catching and interesting, but also easy to understand in one quick glance! If you feel your painting is chaotic and confusing, it usually comes down to a focal point issue. In this tutorial, I show you 5 different ways to make sure your focal point is clearly established. This month's challenge was on creating feet studies! I always struggle wtih drawing feet. The more time I spend on them, the weirder they start to look. Capturing the underlying forms is really challenging, because feet are very complex! It took me a while to find a rendering style that worked for me, but eventually I landed on something that conveyed the different sections and overlapping forms of a foot. Here's what I made:

I spent some more time with colored pencils this month, and experimented with more layering. I'm playing around with some ways to get a rainbow type of effect! I'm starting to find my flow with this medium, and I also recently picked up a new set of polychromos colors - so I'll definitely be playing around with those next month!

I also spent some more time on a digital painting: sweater weather! It's been such a long, hot summer and I miss seeking out warmth in a warm, cozy sweater. I just crave it so much, but it's been too warm to do it! So I painted this feeling, and I'm counting down the days until sweater weather returns - so soon!
