I kept adding edits to the original upload and after 2 it's a bit silly, so here goes the link again in a shiny brand new post:

Link's the same, builds have fixed some crap. Especially on Android:

Changelog:

  • Fixed "Big Bros and Rhomboid attack without charging for one turn first sometimes"

  • Some people reported a weird security message claiming there was ransomware in the game. This was because of the way the rollback tracks everything you do INSIDE the game (and inside only) so you can then roll back without losing stuff. Should be gone.

  • Fixed how the skip and rollback work with unseen text

  • Android. Skip and rollback fixed.

  • Android. Saves are now in Android/data/com.crazyoats.bxsq/files/.bxsq/saves (visible from a PC over USB); existing saves are copied there automatically on first launch. Saves are written without deleting/renaming files.

Some people have reported an issue with the Buffout pill puzzle/usage on Android, but for the life of me, I can't replicate it. Please download the latest build, and if it still happens, please send us a save so we can fix it.

2 questions 1, any idea when the cheats will be implemented? 2, was it intentional to remove patrol fudging (auto patrolling and rolling back on defeat)

Goodie Packs and the game are two different things. They're just illustrations so dig around! There's usually an illustration with Gwen in each pack.

Did this update also fix the ability to scroll on Android? As in scroll through the outfit menu so you can choose different options.

Hey I don't know if this is because I'm playing on PC, but the game tends to skip some of the dialogue on each click. Btw, thanks for not giving up on this Awsome project of yours. Your art and passion inspires me to learn art so I can make my own games that people will enjoy! Ben X is just one of those games that no matter how many times you play it, it never gets boring and you're a genius to come up with this. Best of luck to you and Akenos🫡

BTW just installed it and currently it can't be opened on mac as it's missing all of it's Unix Executable files that make games like this work on mac

I just tested the game on PC with this link's version from the start of the game to the buffout pills. Puzzle, arrows, bought more... it all works normally.

No I started a new game and then I started another new game recently to see if it's just me but no same problem

I get why the engine took so long. Between Akanoes being away for a long time, and making an engine just being an arduous task. But how the fuck was there so little art after all these years? Like theres 4 months of art here. Not a years worth, not 2 years worth, and certianly not years worth. In that time frame you have made at least 100k usd off this page btw

Short answer: cos I wasn't working in the game that much. I did the Goodie Packs with 4 illustrations in them every month for Patrons, but for the game, I only work when I could, which wasn't very often. I needed to get to a point in my life in which finding a job wasn't a constant worry. Add to that family and girlfriend issues (now ex-gf) and the way that we used to work which was awfully inconvenient... Yeah. And that amount might look big and I'm certainly grateful for it, but if you divide it by the number of months you can't live of just that nowadays. Not making excuses btw, I'm just giving you my reasons. I'm sure other people could have done more with less. I wasn't in a good place, but at least I was keeping my Goodie Pack promise while I figured things out. I'm amazed at how many of you still believed in me, but yeah, I've always meant to finish what I started. I just hadn't found what I needed to get it done until I met NewGuy.

8 years btw. Despite raking in, even at your lowest, 1k a month, you couldnt be bothered to work on the game for more then 10 minutes a week. You absloutely took advantage of your patreons disgustingly. Hopefully you make it up to them, but you wont.

At my lowest 1k? XD I wish. And even when we were making more than 1k, that's still the total. I've been paying 40% to Akanoes every month. You are welcome to your own opinion, of course, there are a lot of assholes out there. But I know I've always been honest with people, and that's why they've stuck around even when we were at our lowest. I've kept the promises I've made and never made one I wasn't sure I could keep.

Hi, I’m new here. I recently discovered your game and noticed there was a 5-year gap between the previous update and the current one. I’d like to know if you plan to provide regular updates (on the game’s development status); I’m hesitant to commit to anything if there’s a chance it might take another 5 years for the next update.

We changed the engine so I could do just that, but the game is free, so if you are hesitant to support, you could always wait until the new update comes up to make up your mind. On the other side, even the minimum tier gives you access to a ton of illustrations, so if that's something you want, you can always support me for a month, then leave and come back with the new update. It's up to you :)

On macOS, I couldn't run the .app file; apparently, it's not "runnable"? Had to do some kind of terminal thing to make it runnable, which I figgured out using claude.
