If you missed the drop yesterday, the latest full-length episode of The Purple Stuff Podcast is here, and it’s exactly what you need for a mid-October Halloween spirit boost!

Join us as we march through the 1987 network television premiere of FRIGHT NIGHT, complete with cheesy bumpers and killer TV commercials. We talk about our favorite moments from the film, Fright Night trivia, the changes made for a network television broadcast, and along the way, we even find time to pay tribute to commercials for Sucrets and 21 Jump Street.

That episode should be on your main podcast feed now, but if you want some quick links, here it is on Apple, or Spotify, or if you prefer, here’s a direct link to the MP3.

Enjoy! Next on deck for us is the October bonus show, which is a hot one — and needless to say, it’s very Halloweeny!

We hope you’re all having a great season. It’s the middle of October, so make the most of what’s left of it… starting with our hour-long discussion of Marcy D’Arcy with big gnarly vampire fangs.

PS: If you want to see the Fright Night broadcast intro, bumpers, and some of the TV commercials, we uploaded a montage to YouTube.

PPS: We also just posted an update about some extremely minor changes to Patreon starting next month, which won't really affect you at all, but in the interest of transparency, here ya go.

As a kid I always wondered why my aunts took Dexatrim being skinny already And yes it looked out of a wonka factory

Zwoozy

While it's a very different beast, the 2011 Fright Night is also a lot of fun.

Matt and Jay dissecting the air traffic controller Sucrets commercial had me cracking up in the car on the way home from bowling - bravo, lads ... Sucrets reminded me of when me and my little brother (who was prob 8 then) saw Children of the Corn (which my dad taped off HBO probably not for us to see) and my brother would call the lead Child of the Corn “Sucrets” because of his raspy voice ... advertising reached its tentacles far into your brain back then

Brad Rossman

That big toothy smile in the clouds on the VHS cover freaked me out as a kid, every time I was in the backseat of the car at night I'd look up at the clouds and hope that face didn't appear there.

Nathaniel

Green Bay born and raised here. Had no idea this was from a former local channel of mine until the end of the podcast where the recording mentions it. Makes me wonder what other kind of hidden gems have been broadcast here I never knew about.

Chris Sarandon was oddly hot in this movie…but dressed like an 80s dad…they made him like a regular guy…not a leather-clad bleach blond vampire…it adds to the charm of the movie. Definitely different. *** Great episode guys! Anytime Jay’s dad is mentioned the story gets so good so quick. 😂💓
