Get set, Patronies – it is TIME. As of this bonus show, The Purple Stuff Podcast is officially kicking off its 2024 Halloween season! We’re talking about three straight months of spooky nonsense, both on the main feed and here on Patreon!

…and we’ve got a good one to start off with. This month’s bonus show is another one of our patented eBay digs, but in the spirit of the season, we picked out the best and weirdest Halloween items from the year 1988!

This is kind of a sequel to the 1987 Halloween eBay dig we did a while back, and it’s also just an excuse to give you a variety hour full of all sorts of haunted fun. You can check out the actual eBay auctions below, for however long they last!

1. Friday the 13th VHS Pumpkin! (Auction / Info)2. Fright Night Amiga Game! (Auction / Info)3. Shrieks & Creaks Board Game! (Auction / Info)4. Real Ghostbusters Tombstone Tackle! (Auction / Info)5. Monster Boppers Frankenstein Doll! (Auction / Info)6. Vincent Price’s Creepy Classics! (Auction / Info)

Enjoy, and we hope this puts you in a creepy mood! Thanks so much for your support here on Patreon, and we’re thrilled to be spending yet another Halloween season with y’all.

Pretty incredible to think about how long we’ve been at this, and after all, our podcast was originally conceived as a Halloween show! We’re going to have some fun times… thanks for being along for the hayride!

Spooky Season has arrived!!!

Spirit Halloweens are popping up and TPS Halloween Kickoff is here. The good times are back again.

Tim

We had Tombstone Tackle as a kid! Played with him as an action figure "jobber" many a time

Kylee

Yay! 👻

Skylar Baxter

I actually live where they filmed New Blood! I go to Byrne Lake pretty often 😀

Dan Schoening

How did you guys know it was my Birthday today? One of the best gifts ever, a Halloween ep of the PSP 🧡🎃

Cube Dude

I got a Granny Gross figure from my own Granny at a Chuck E Cheese Bday party in 1989. I look happy as hell in a photo but I also recently realized she probably just picked it up on her way to the party haha

Sarah Sepanek

I am going to drop that Jimmy Hart factoid on every wrestling fanatic I know. Also just realized I have that Fright Night game on the mega-emulator I have set up in my living room right now ... gonna have some 8-bit nipple action haha

James Mc Gill

Damn! This was a great haul! Apart from the Ghostbusters toy, I never knew any of these existed. They're all awesome!

Doctor Outlandish

I'm saving these Halloween episodes for late September. For now I'm going back and revisiting old Summer Saturdays episodes. :D

Anita

I saw a halloween hello kitty side stepper that reminds me of those worlds of wonder dancers at HomeGoods last week. I'm sure the crazy resllers have bought them all by now though :/ omg screaming skull, that's a boring mst3k episode, but "get a box!!" is a great joke. I've been "burning" my vacation brand candles. Pool Boy and Hotel Lobby.

Louie Romo

I'm so tempted to get that Vincent Price tape. It'd look great with the rest of the Halloween decorations

Snuff Shock

Jimmy Hart writing “Keep On Dancing” means that “Sexy Boy” is only his second best song.

Barry Harmon

RGB’s Haunted Humans were always a favorite of mine because not only did they double as clients who could hire the Ghostbusters but they also could populate the TMNT playset as random New Yorkers

Electrolux

I had the Haunted Humans Mailman. And there was a toilet I think? And I love the Shrieks And Creaks commercial. I edited in to my copy of the tv edit of Halloween 78.

Mike J.

Just scored the Ghost Toast KitKats at a Walgreens! They also had bags of Brach's candy corn & the harvest mix, and the Reese's Pumpkins in white and milk chocolate, but no Wolfman Reese's Cups : /

Annie Davis

My head turned into a Jack-o’lantern after listening to this.

Mike J.

Just spotted the Wednesday cereal at a Target in the US!

Anita

guys. someone bought the big azz pumpkin.

Mike Bartholomay

i actually really liked Granny Gross, but i was at an age when perceived coolness was not a thing to me. which is to say, like, maybe 1 year old lol.

DJ D

I've been catching up on the last few episodes and this was the best way to bring in the season. I just happen to still have both Shrieks and Creaks AND the Creepy Classics tape! I got them both for my birthday as a kid and have hung on to them ever since. I used to watch Creepy Classics on repeat, and sure enough, would sit in my room and just listen to the Shrieks and Creaks tape. I didn't have any siblings to play it with, but it was a good time on its own. There's so much nostalgia wrapped up in this episode!
