Did Nintendo invent reverse micro transactions? You can now spend in game currency (rupees) outside of the game

Joe Dean

After watching the extended cut of the Minnesota State Fair video I've gotta know, was Ben let into Valleyfair, or was he humiliated in front of his family?

Clarke Foster

If VR became much more advanced and was totally immersive, what game genre would you want to play in it?

Brady Griffith

I got my first gaming PC this year, and I’m finding it really tough to learn mouse and keyboard controls. Did any of y’all pick up mouse and keyboard after only using controllers, and, if so, how was the learning process? Any recommended games to start with to help me learn?

VinnyAhhh

With the GTA6 dong predictions being resolved early I think we need a new prediction/bet to replace it. How about: Do you think GTA6 will make you cry?

Victor Garcia

Hi, everyone. I've been watching a lot of food/cooking YouTube lately and I noticed that British people shorten Vegetables to just Veg and I don't like it. "Get your veg ready" sounds weird compared to "get your vegetables ready". What are your thoughts on this?

DennisTheLettuce

Hello MinnMaxers! Years ago, my girlfriend and I saw a table of girl scouts selling cookies while we were doing errands. We bought some, but I deliberately paid with cash instead of Venmoing them so they could practice making change. My girlfriend still teases me to this day. Was that wrong? Was it weird? Was it a dad move? Interested in hearing samoa-pinions on this. All the best, Dennis

Neill Smith

What game from 2026 has made you feel most like a child and which has made you feel most like an adult? Which do you find yourself coming back to most?

mapleviolet

Usain Bolt was added to Temple Run 2 in 2013. What athlete would you want to be added to a somewhat disparate mobile game?

LoofaTroopa

Hey MinnMax! I recently went to the Undertale World Tour concert, and it was absolutely incredible. But this having been my second video game concert, I’ve had two bad experiences with the people sitting next to me. My question for you all is what is acceptable at an orchestral concert? Is loud humming okay? Am I going crazy? Are gamers the worst concert goers or are my expectations unfair? Also go to the Undertale concert if you still can.

Tursmo

Who is your favorite announcer in games? I personally love Quake (double-kill, triple-kill, ULTRAKILL!) and Bastion's announcer.

RynaGoGo

In games I’m a rogue or dex main. In real life I’m a spoon and bowl main. If it fits in a bowl I’m eating it out of a bowl. If it can be eaten with a spoon, I’m spooning. Are you a fork or spoon / plate or bowl main?

kajmo

As people who seem to travel a fair amount, any tips for how to find fun stuff to do in a new place? My wife and I are going to London and TripAdvisor feels a bit played out!

Adam Castellanos

What is the weirdest song that you have heard playing in a restaurant or a cafe? I was in a coffee shop the other day and “I’ll believe in anything” by wolf parade started playing, which is the strangest song to hear when studying. Thank y’all.

Neal McMahon

Hey MinnMax I was playing Spider-Man: Miles Morales the other day and heard the intro song right after the prologue. It fit the moment so perfectly that it genuinely elevated my opinion of the game. It got me thinking—what are some games, movies, or shows that used music so perfectly that, in your opinion, it actually made the experience significantly better? Like, a song comes on and suddenly the game gets an extra 2 points on Metacritic just because of how perfectly it was used.

Richard Young

If you could create a save point for one day in your life that you can revisit at any time, which day would you choose? You can make small changes to the day like dialogue options but the main beats would be the same. Basically a choose your own groundhog day.

K-Ham

Every Saturday, my partner wakes up early and goes to the gym. On his way back, he'll grab coffee and breakfast for us and we'll enjoy them while watching MinnMax to kick off our weekends! It is truly my favorite part of the weekend and we almost never compromise on it unless we absolutely have to. My question is - do you have any pre-recording or pre-event personal rituals that you've developed in the 7 years of MinnMax?

Wajora

What is the most recent thing you are nostalgic for?

Machine Gun Keeley

Could we get an update on Kyle's viewing of Akira with his parents? Was he disowned? Did they make it through Tetsuo’s Final Flesh Mutation? Did it awaken some long suppressed demonic desire for flesh? More details, pretty please...

Michael Lunt

Which Marvel superhero would you like to see Insomniac tackle next? I'm rewatching the MCU and would personally love to see their take on Black Panther.

Rick

Whats the weirdest way you play a game "wrong"? Like following the traffic laws in GTA or my recent example, watching the computer simulate my madden teams entire game

Juicy

Hey all! What was everyone’s PAX West Highlights? Second Question, any favorite game demos (if any)? I really enjoyed Croak and now looking forward to it.

sandeezy

Ben and best friend Ronnie’s playthrough of crow country is one of my favorite minnmax things ever. in lieu of a silent hill townfall deepest dive, can we get you two back together in the studio to get spooked again?

SlyCut

Hello all, I'm sitting in the waiting room at my dentist's office. What game would you let your dentist pull a healthy tooth for? I'm about to give a molar for a Dino Crisis reboot. You're welcome, world.

Arturo Perez

Hi Minnmax! What thing always makes you smile? For me, it is seeing a dog out on walk. :) Have a great day!

Juniper Cain

Hi all! If all the cohorts had to anonymously compete to submit a question to the Minnmax show, who do you think would get the furthest? On to Ben's shortlist, included on the show, or even winning Question of the Week?

Michael Christoffel

What is something from a video game that on paper is a great feature, but in practice is something you dislike? And by that I don’t mean poor implementation. As an example, I hate when you can speak to every NPC in a JRPG because something in my brain feels the need to speak to everyone, most of which are completely unnecessary. This can ruin the pace of a game for me

Ava A

One of Nintendo’s secret weapon’s is its use of ‘last gen’ tech for its latest consoles. The switch 2 = Nintendo’s first time publishing ‘ps4 era’ HD graphics. There’s been many ‘aaagh! This is so weird!’ Reactions to what I’ll call the ‘stylised-photorealistic’ graphics of ocarina of time + star-fox 64 remakes. Notably, this ‘aaagh! Weird’ energy has not been extended to games like GTA 6. Devs like Rockstar, Santa Monica Studios and Naughty Dog have pushed at the edges of ‘stylised photorealism’ for years. Do you think Nintendo’s newness in publishing at this level of ‘HD’ has something to do with this rocky reception? Is nintendo maybe a bit… new to working within this stylised-photorealistic art direction? Xoxo

Adam Cohen

No question, just a recommendation. In the spirit of the Zelda 40th anniversary, I recommend that all Zelda fans (especially Kyle Hilliard) read the book "How to Defeat a Demon King in Ten East Steps". It's a really fun LitRPG heavily inspired by the Zelda universe. (I have no association with this book other than I've read it and really enjoyed it.)

Lucas S

Hi MinnMax, I’d imagine y’all play a lot of games. I do too! But sometimes I find myself blasting through games too quickly and feeling like I’m skipping the immersion. I found keeping a game journal and writing blurbs about each game I played helps me retain/cherish the experience. My question is, how do you savor a game and cherish the experience?

Robert Draa

Im generally not a fan of media riding the wave of newly-public IP (see Winnie the pooh) but I do like when games use public IP generally. What public IP do you think is ripe for a video game adaptation? Frankenstein? The Three Musketeers?

Travis in Fargo

I’ve been fighting a very hard boss in Nine Sols recently. Today, after her second phase, I paused the game, stretched, had a drink of water, then went back and finally beat her. My spouse says this is cheating, because the boss didn’t get to have a break. Is she right?

Travis in Fargo

What’s your experience with, or interest in, urban exploring?

Malcolm Holliday

Hey MinnMax! Was there ever a dance or singing sequence in a game performed by the characters that caught you by surprise? The FF6 Opera scene and the Hades 2 siren fight are the first to come to mind for me.

Nathan Ryer

Hey MinnMax, who wins in a drinking contest, Old Man Logan or Juggernaut? Or does someone else like Storm quietly wipe the floor with both of them?

Ava A

Omg i feel the exact same, damn you jrpg towns folk NPC #6!!!!

Alpaca chino

Hi Minn Maxeroonies! Here's something I have thought way too much about. I'll call it Real World vs Video Games! What actions are the closest in terms of time spent in both video games and real life? For example! Some actions skew heavily to the side of real life. I have definitely ridden a bike more in real life, just as I have spent way more time enjoying meals. In contrast, I have fired more guns in video games, just as I have definitely driven longer in cars (as I dont have a driver's license IRL). BUT! What actions comes closest across video games and real life? Distance traversed on foot (running/walking)? Getting hair cuts? I thought too long about this, and realized that for me, it is probably playing soccer. I have a few years as a kid where I played soccer at a club and in Fifa a huge amount, and I think those two might be the closest. What are your pick? Keep on keeping on!

Dustin Davis

Are there any games that would be interested if it drastically changed its art style? Or if it changed to look more like the box art (such as GTA being more stylized, or Megaman looking like his NES box art?)

Fred Dinovo

Given recent ONL, SGF heck even VGA showcases I am struggling to think what even makes a good trailer these days for an announcement? What all do you want to see to get you interested in a game? One solid mechanic to pull you in? Unique art style? Music drop? Do celebrity cameos do it for ya?

Galexzzz

What’s a game that’s all sauce no meat?

Sky Fellowship

Wanted to share a community story and shout out Neil The Loreless from the MinnMax discord, never met him before and we played through all of Orbitals over 2 sessions. Absolutely brilliant game, bit of jank but 100% want a sequel. We both had an absolute blast playing and joking on and we even started talking about Silksong, where he then informed me that he was the person that Janet put on blast, for not finishing Act 3 and I burst out laughing as I knew the whole thing, as Silksong was my GOTY and that episode of PewPewBang was amazing. I even commented about Neil it turns out. Which, he has since finished Silksong Act 3 so hell yeah, big proud. But yeah, just wanted to do a shoutout to Neil and to your amazing community. Love this place, love PewPewBang and love Orbitals.

Travis in Fargo

Is it more likely that one of the protagonists in GTA6 will die before the end of the game, or they’ll add a third playable character?

landsealion

How would you live your life differently if you had a single extra life?

Graham Walker

Jason Schreier's video about how publicly owned companies work now lives rent free in my head. He notes how safe sales help to drive predictable growth which. This naturally feeds into the homogenisation of games where the safe game is the game we have seen work well before given to us again. But we know that when things get samey they get stale which affects sales. Many might already say we have started being sold the same few games repeatedly for years now. DLSS5 is only increasing homogenisation of graphics. How can the industry break out of this without destroying share price?

Travis in Fargo

Would you rather play Jenga with Jesus OR Tetris with Tesla?

Memory Card

Hey Minnmax, Catherine here. I've been under the weather lately so I've been revisiting childhood favourite LEGO Batman The Videogame (2008). Still holds up. With its inspiration, Batman: The Animated Series, turning 34 this past weekend, I was curious if you had any memories of the show, or any other games that you feel adapted it well?

Jackson Davis

When’s the last time you fixed a piece of technology just by giving it a good smack? I had to do this with my Dualsense the other day and was surprised that it worked.

Clayton Carroll

Where is the 22 hour state fair cut? There's no going back!

Catpurrnicus

I think the biggest thing that helped me was to loosen up the mouse sensitivity. You want large movements to move small distances on screen. This helps with accuracy.

Catpurrnicus

I'm currently playing Star Wars Zero Company and really enjoying it. It made me reevaluate the prequels and all the media that has come with it. As a whole, are the prequels better than the original trilogy? Not strictly counting the movies, but all the companion pieces, TV shows, video games.

Sam Kennedy

Is there anything Ubisoft can actually do to make Rayman popular?

Catpurrnicus

Are you a one space or two after typing sentences?

Joe Garifo

Hey MinnMax! First, Congrats on the engagement Haley! Second, You all like to say Dog Water, but what is that? Is it a polite way to say dog pee or do you have something else in mind when you call something dog water?

Richard Hayes

Odysseus’ trip was 20 years long, and Nolan cut the travelogue down to 3 hours. How long would you make the extended version of The Odyssey travelogue and which cohorts would you send on the trip?

PoorAndCurly

Hey Minnmax, Everytime a new zelda is shown, thousands cry foul about the way it looks. What other series receives the a similar level of criticism every time it is revealed?

Alex Hutchinson

Hey MinnMax! In honor of Wolverine, what items protruding from your knuckles would be the most useful day-to-day? Are metal claws the pinnacle, or would something like knuckle-bound screwdrivers be more practical?

Daniel May

Hi MinnMax: what is the best tip you've ever gotten about how to play a video game that made the whole experience better? For me it's Haley's Death Stranding suggestion to focus on rebuilding the highway, as it's what I aim for instead of the platinum. Thanks Haley!

Brandon H

I’m in my late 30s and I know my favorite games are all supposed to be older and nostalgia picks, but the last few years have completely blown me away. If I were to make my personal top 10 games list of all time Lies of P, Silksong, and Expedition 33 would all be on there. Has anything recently impacted you to the point where you are having to re-think your answers to “favorite games of all time?”

Joey Smith

Question for Haley. Have you been to Sable Island, the island off the coast of Nova Scotia populated exclusively by about 500 feral horses? It seems like a cool intersection of your interests. If you have been, how was it?

Aging_Poorly

Hey fellow nerds, To what extent did you hide or suppress your nerdiness over the years? When did you hide it the most and when did you hide it the least?

Clemens Schwarz

Hi MinnMax, have you ever knowingly saved someone's life? Maybe directly - "Don't jump!" - or more in hindsight, e.g. with a well given advice at the right moment. Keep doing what you are doing - saving lifes or just making ours better, Clemens P.S.: I appreciate you mentioning Teardown briefly in last week's podcast, but working on it currently I can't believe Leo didn't mention the big new thing: multiplayer. Our console multiplayer update including the multiplayer-focused mod pack #6 for Xbox S/X and PS5 will launch next week Tuesday. And if you are at it, check out our newest DLC "Relics of Barkuna", which switches up the gameplay once more.

Sergio

Hello Minnmax! I sometimes worry that if a young wannabe developer watched your videos, especially the coverage of xbox, they might get dissuaded due to the litany of problems with video games right now. Is this something you worry about too?

Vilis

As a long time PAX fan I'm interested to know the favorite PAX thing y'all who went experienced that WASN'T distinctly playing a video game, just a pure convention experience.

Joey Crundwell

Hello MinnMax! How much would it cost to license “Bein’ Friends” from Nintendo (from the Mother soundtrack) to use as Haley and Sarah’s theme song going forward? After watching their recent travelogue and listening to the bonus pod breaking it down with Ben, I can’t get it out of my head. I’m sure Nintendo would be amiable. They’re famously generous with their IP. 😏

Ryan Thomas Reynolds

Hello FRIENDS! (Love you guys, especially Mr Ben Handsome) I recently ran into a big issue with my wife regarding older video games! She always calls them ugly and hard to look at and because of this she will often just REFUSE to play them! But good news, I think I found a hack I can use to open her mind. You see, while she doesnt like ugly old video games, she will however play new games that have "interesting" art styles. Abiotic Factor and Once Human are the most recent ones that come to mind. So here's my "hack" that I want to try - Im going to try and convince her to play some older stuff simply by saying that the game isnt ugly, it just has an "interesting artstyle". All this to finally get to my actual question, have you ever used a "hack" to get someone into playing a certain video game that you like? Thanks for taking my question! Love you guys! 😁

Kelsey Sims

Hello cohorts! I recently played through Life is Strange: Reunion, and while I thought it was okay, it did not feel like a great conclusion to a series I've been a fan of for over a decade now. Are there other series or franchises (video games, movies, etc.) that you love, but feel like they didn't get the ending they deserved?

Bill

Hey MinnMax. In William Gibson's novel Agency he describes a breakfast food called a McWolven, which is a soft boiled egg baked inside of a muffin. What fictional food from a video game/book are you still salivating over years later?

Dustin Davis

*that you would be interested in seeing a changed art style

Medimonster

I had such a good time meeting everyone who came out for PAX! I hope you all got to do some fun stuff in the Puget Sound while you were here! As a true Washingtonian I am quite the coffee snob, only drinking single origin organic fair trade coffee. I own at least 7 different methods to brew with. What is some hobby or interest you have that you are unashamedly pretentious about?

CptCobblePot

Hello Minnmax, How often play demos at Gamescom/PAX/SGF etc that you find super fun at the time, but you realize it was the event lense hyping it up? What was the difference with the game you did end up committing the playtime to?

thejjuan1

Hey minnmax. With the release of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. Will this be the last time when we hear the phrase “ the epic conclusion to the (Blank) trilogy” , in the next 10 years? I miss having a good game trilogy. Mass effect, Uncharted, Gears, Halo, God of War, Batman Arkham, Bioshock, and Dark Souls. All these trilogy’s come out in a 7-10 year window. Now we be lucky to get one game in that time frame. I know game development takes so much longer these days and developers don’t want to be committed to 3 games. But that’s why I give CD Project Red props with this commitment to a new Witcher trilogy. Apparently they want the last of the new trilogy to be out by 2035.

Chris Pelley

Do you condone sneaking food/drinks into the theater?

p9xm

In the year 2099, the great minds at MinnMax Corp. are sent on a mission back in time to preserve one gaming peripheral for all eternity! But, the time machine malfunctions and you are only able to access 4 options. Which of the following do you save and why? - The Easy-Bake Oven Keyboard Attachment (featured in a recent episode of LGR, it lets you play cooking minigames by attaching to the top of your PC keyboard) - The Digital Ocarina (featured in this week's Legend of Zelda direct, currently unknown how exactly it works) - The DK Bongos (featured in games like Donkey Konga and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat) - The DS Guitar Hero Attachment (that slid into the GBA slot!) This item will be preserved in the Two Halls of Tens. The future is counting on you!!!

Patrick G

What Zelda game will get remastered for the 50th anniversary?

LlorchDurden

Crew! Halloween The Game released officially today 9/8th! Probably Haley as a hardcore DBD player can say something about it. My question, who the f*** made the call to release it "now"? on September? the game's name is Halloween The GAME! No further questions, congratulations to the MacLeans!!

Jacob Mazanowski

What was the most recent food you tried for the first time and loved? I recently tried Kim Chi and now I put it with everything

Kazumi

Hi Minnmax! I came across your content last year and really fell in love with what you do(especially Pew Pew Bang, congrats on your engagement Haley!). I finally joined the patreon recently and am happy to report that it was totally worth it. With all the great backstage pass content, I'm not sure what to dive into other than the recent stuff. What are some of your older backstage pass material that you'd recommend? Thank you!

Greg Lovell

Hello cohorts! I've just played and beaten Mina the Hollower. All the way through I was thinking "this is a really good game but I'm not enjoying it at all". I still finished it. What's going on? How do games keep us engaged when they're not "fun"?

Parker Aden

Hey MinnMax! You are responsible for taking Jacob on another trip to make content for MinnMax (just like the Minnesota State Fair stuff). Where are you taking Jacob and why? And Jacob - which one of these would you choose to be your next adventure? Who from the Cohorts are coming along?

Mike Fab

Hi CLCs. When you are eating a multi-flavored candy, like skittles, do you just eat random handfuls, separate the flavors and go flavor by flavor, eat one piece at a time? I like to separate the flavors and eat small amounts (but more than one piece) at a time. Thanks, love the show!

Joe Shmoe

Hey Minnmax, What is a collaboration between two creators you like that didn’t land for you? Mine would be the song “Hey Girl” by Florence Welch and Lady Gaga. It is just very basic for my liking coming from these two artists that usually blow me away.

Scott

In the new Ocarina of Time, will Ganondorf bleed green or red?

giuliano

Hey MinnMax, What is your favorite popsicle flavor?

Luca Alberti

Hello MM crew, last week I watched The Dog Stars from Ridley Scott, my favourite director of all time: as you might have heard Dog DooDoo would have been a better title. What's a big letdown from a Game Director/Company that you used to trust?

quilatoo

What’s wrong with dogwater?! Is it literally just that it’s water a dog has potentially sullied? Or that it’s down on the floor? Let the dogs hydrate in peace! Also, congrats to Haley and Michael!

PhillyYeetSteak

Is the negative feedback to Wolverine simply people seeing that its Marvel and disregarding it? I feel like 007, as a recent example, had much less negativity about it even though it was also a linear, fairly traditional 3rd person action game. Why are people being so harsh to ol' Logan?

TekWriter

Hi MinnMax! After watching Nintendo's Ocarina of Time event, I was left having... thoughts... about the voiceover. By the way, I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by being able to jump at the push of a button! Trademark pending! Anywho, are there any video game trailer or demo voiceovers that stand out in your mind as being particularly good or bad? Or do you believe less is more? Personally, if we could bring back Don LaFontaine, voice guy for over 5,000 movie trailers (Die Hard, Batman, Terminator 2), it would add an automatic 8 points to every Metacritic score.

Swansonge

Embargo schmembargo I say! During your time in the game industry, what has been the most ridiculous embargo rule that you’ve seen and which game was it for (if you’re allowed to say)?

mantaguy

Hey MinnMax! Do you think that Sony ending Playstation disc production will cause a traffic jam at the end of 2027 similar to the one that GTA 6 is causing this September/October, where the big third party publishers all rush to get their games out while they still can put out a physical PS5 version? Assuming nothing happens in the next 16 months that spikes the punch regarding Sony's plans, of course.

Rikimaru

Hi MinnMax! What color are the following game genres? - Action-adventure - Farming sim - JRPG - MOBA - Puzzle - Racing - Soulslike

Thom Blackburn

What is the official name for the smell of PAX?

Nick deVries

HI MinnMax crew, I've always been fascinated by game reviews and how the specific context the reviewer is in usually shapes their opinion to some extent. It feels so unique to the gaming industry that a publication's review of a massive title could be impacted because the reviewer wasn't in the mood for a 30+ hour RPG, for example. Has this ever affected any of you, either in a positive way or negative way? Thanks, love the show!

Thradriend

What is your favorite video game soundtrack?

Nate Voris

Question for Haley: Outside of hockey games, are there any Canada-ass video games or games set in Canada? If they made a GTA set in Canada which Canadian city should it be set in?

Jon

Do you have anything that you deliberately mispronounce because it makes you giggle? My personal favorite is for retired Italian soccer player Fabio Quagliarella, whose last name I pronounce as quagmire spaghetti.

Tyler Lockhart

Hey Minnmax, If you could press a button and retire every existing game IP, forcing every game studio to make something fresh and new, would you press the button? Assume for the sake of the hypothetical this doesn't make everyone go out of business. I look around the gaming landscape and see how much money and time is being spent on legacy franchises, licensed games, remakes, etc. and just think it would be so much cooler if we had a full reset and companies were all making something new. Imagine how different it would be if companies like Capcom and Nintendo which rely so heavily on their 20-40 year old franchises were making all new stuff!

Shoes

Haley, have you checked out Ledgerbound’s satirical EULA yet? If a contract is written as a joke, does clicking "I Agree" carry any legal weight at all?

Jason Wojnar

For the first time ever I went to Gamescom because my brother, former Game Informer intern Zak Wojnar, worked it as press and my mother decided it was a good time to go to Germany too so we had a little family vacation. It was a cool experience seeing all the glitz and glamour of games conventions. I even snuck into the business section (won’t say how as to not incriminate anyone else), and it reminded me of how often I would sneak into shows before I turned 21. When did you ever sneak into a place? When you did? Did you go Solid Snake dodging security or Agent 47 hiding in plain sight.

Fancygraham

Last week, Kyle mentioned he played Spirit Tracks on his honeymoon. Last month, I played Denshattack on my wedding day. What are the games you correlate with significant events from your life? P.S. I think Pac-Man Repac 2 would be a great anniversary gift for Jacob. P.P.S Congrats Haley and Michael!

Fernando Ramirez

Hey Minnmax, Collector Corner is back! Show off your favorite gaming memorabilia, and tell us why it’s meaningful to you. This is your chance before Kelsey comes back and puts everyone to shame. Thanks, love the show!

Michael Nickley

Hey MinnMax, Place your bets now: Will we see Majora’s Mask remade in the same style as the new Ocarina of Time during the lifetime of the Switch 2? Bonus question: Will Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD *ever* be saved from the Wii U graveyard by the time we’re all dead and buried?

Steven Nelson

I wanted to thank you for hosting the MinnMax meetup this weekend! I had a blast talking to other listeners about the FF7 remake trilogy, remakes in general, the PAX show floor, and a little ps1 game called Legend of Legaia which is now on my list of games to play. How did Seattle and the PAX weekend treat the MinnMax crew?

Stephen Woodson

Howdy, When the Mario Galaxy movie was packed with Nintendo characters, Nintendo made this comment: “A live-action movie of The Legend of Zelda is planned for release in 2027. Going forward, we will take a variety of approaches to continually create contact points with Nintendo characters all over the world...” So my question is, which Zelda characters will we *not* see in the Legend of Zelda movie? Would love to hear a "Yup" or "Nope" for if each of characters below will make a movie appearance. - The Great Deku Tree - Happy Mask Salesman - Midna - The true form of Midna - Tingle - The Majora's Mask moon - The Wind Fish - Beedle - Link's Uncle (from link to the past) - The King of Red Lions boat - A hot Prince Sidon (from Breath of the Wild) - A hot Purah (from Tears of the Kingdom) - A hot Ganondorf (from everything) Cheers and thanks!

Bob Buel

Has there ever been a video game remake that was actively worse than the original?

Talyn

Would you rather be able to teleport anywhere in the world, anytime you want….. or be able to teleport anyone else in the world to anywhere, any time you want?

Maximilian Mackinnon

Are there any old titles (like 80s games) that you think would be interesting to get a 3D remaster/reimagining?

Colton Westbrooks

In honor of Friend of the Show Dan Ryckert being a contestant on the new season of “The Floor”, my question for you all is this. If you could be on any game show, with any host, past or present, what would it be?

Brody Weller

If there was an 8th day of the week, would we still only have a 2 day weekend? What would that 8th day be called?

Jacob Mazanowski

What is the most important thing to know? Is it time?

Josh LaBaw

Hello Cohorts, I'm just here for the podcast. This one's going to be a ride. Zelda! Final Fantasy! Keep it going.

Bob Buel

Oh, and are there any new vertical mobile games Kyle recommends?

pork bun powered

Hi MinnMax! I just finished Armored Core 6 the other day, and a part of me is bummed that I've missed out on all the big discussions. What game did you play after the hype has died down that you wish you had played at the height of its popularity? It was great meeting you guys at PAX, btw!

pabloyan

do y'all ever fall asleep playing games? one of my buddies on discord fell asleep on the voice channel while we were playing Peak the other day and the rest of us just didn't know what happened to his suddenly idle character until the next day. It brought back a core memory of playing X Men Legends on PS2 on a sleepover with a friend, and suddenly waking up to see both our characters running into walls and enemies as we just fell into a deep slumber, controllers in hand, stuck on an input. Just opened my eyes and closed them right back. Kinda sweet.

Alastair

Hello minnmax! What was the last game that made you cry? Which game from the fall rush is most likely to make you cry?

Kevin Kuper

What September game do you want to play but are going to hold for later and why that one? Do you think you will eventually come back to it?

Hey Minnmax! Any plans on coming to Gamescom Asia?

Kenjamin

That game has some of the most challenging and most memorable bosses ever

Hey Minnmax. How do I get over my need to finish every game I start before moving onto the next one? My partner has the ability to play a bunch of games at the same time, drop ones she’s not into, replay games she’s already played a bunch of times. All without an ounce of guilt. I feel like this way of engaging with the hobby is a lot more fulfilling yet I can’t shake my need to finish what I started, despite the fact that it can lead to gaming feeling ultimately like a chore. I suppose it’s the feeling that my opinion can’t be contested if I finished the whole game, despite the fact that it’s unlikely that will ever matter. As people in games media, how have you each personally combatted this if at all?

Hi MinnMax! Remember those devices that let you smell your videogames? Which game protagonists do you think smell best/worst? Let's just say I am not hopeful for Wolverine

Hey MinnMax! Are you afraid to re-experience your favorite pieces of art? I rewatched my favorite movie, A Silent Voice, when it came back to theaters recently. I was so worried it wouldn't hit the same or I wouldn't even like it. Luckily, I walked out of it still sure it's my favorite movie. But like, what if??? Do y'all also have this worry?

Based on Jacob's rankings, there were a ton of fantastic cheese / dairy products at the Minnesota State Fair! Yay! Anyways, how many Kraft Singles do you think you could eat in one sitting if you had to?

What's the most obvious puzzle/solution in a game you missed and were kicking yourself after when you found out the solution? Conversely, what was the most obtuse puzzle you have ever experienced and felt like a genius for overcoming?

Have you ever not played free DLC for a game because you liked the game so much as it was? For me, I enjoyed Expedition 33 so much that I have been leery of playing the updates for it in case it might ruin my love for the game. Also was the same way with Mass Effect 3. Had finished the game completely and was good with it, so never went back for the updates they did to "fix" the game.

I've been playing Onimusha for the past week and the game is excellent but at its core it's got some gaming 'tropes' that, whilst seen plenty of times before still manage to feel good. As an example revisiting earlier areas with a new skill that lets you access and explore previously blocked off areas. What gaming 'tropes' do you think have stood the test of time and still manage to feel good even though they have been redone and rehashed for decades at this point.

Is metroid ravenous the spiritual successor to that pacman metroidvania?

Hey y’all - with Fall around the corner, I was wondering if you had any core memories with the seasons and video games? Fall and winter will always remind me of Zelda since I got Ocarina of Time and my N64 as a Hanukkah gift in 1998. Whenever the leaves change and I can smell Autumn in the air, it takes me back to being a kid and playing it after school with the windows open. Majora’s Mask, on the other hand, reminds me of winter and listening to the Offspring’s “Americana” since I got them during the following holiday and played them together nonstop during Winter break. Thanks for all the awesome events at PAX this year. Trivia tower and the meetup were a lot of fun. Cheers!
