Welcome to the masquerade ball! This video was heavily inspired by the first episode of the 4th season of Bridgerton, but set in the 1780s.It's a very classic roleplay, similar to the first one I made with Madame Dumais ("A French Court's Game"), 'pairing' couples and gossiping. However, this time I used dance cards instead of a chess game, and I clearly separated the gossip segment from the personal attention part, placing the latter in the second half of the video, as it's probably the more sleep-inducing of the two.

Around the middle of the video, I also experimented a specific scene with music, though I understand this may not be everyone's cup of tea. As usual, I’ll provide a no-music version, since this video features four different music tracks 😅.

I hope you enjoy it!

Now, I’m about to take a 180° turn and dive back into a more sci-fi-inspired world. I’ll be sharing a moodboard soon. Also, I’ll soon release a new reading video for props funders and roleplay producers. Sleep well and see you soon! 😀 PS: in this video, I had troubles with my camera's autofocus, especially during close-up scenes. Sorry about that. Also, my dress has a slight flaw on the bodice, and I hope it will go unnoticed 👌

YAY! Something to distract me from work!

Diane, I’m still half way through the video but wanted to say that the script is brilliant. I’m so entertained by the little witty comments!! As always, setup, costume, intro and every possible detail are perfection!

Casey Zeigler

The details are incredible as always, and the script is so perfect. Thank you for another masterpiece!

We've waited a while for Madame Dumais to return and you don't disappoint Diane❤️. She is so deliciously scheming has a wicked sense of humour to go with it. Her lovely voice has lost none of its tingleness either. So soothing that at times I miss what she says. It's such fun though. The cards were a great touch too, with the overlapping speaking, or so it seemed matching. Her mischievous grin is so intoxicating. I love this character of yours. I'm not ashamed to admit I was influenced by her character in my books. Bless you Diane. Xxx

Ottamia

Love this character and the visuals/setting so much. It's thrilling, I never know if she is really our friend or if we are just some kind "pet". She makes one feel quite uneasy and insecure. A complete contrast to your other characters ❤️ (The inventation cards are stunning. I would be sad if I haven't gotten one)

Ottamia

Oh, and what was written on our dance cards? Was it Madame D.? The Madame paired us with herself? I excpected her to pair us with an unpleasent Lord or something out of mischief. Now this could mean she has completely other intentions towards us. This adds a new dimensions for her character . Headcanon: she wants us all for herself😆

JaneyMo

That was delicious 😍

Elsie

The script/acting is great in this one! Madame D is hilarious. I like that even though she is mischievous she is still polite to her servant/James. I hope this isn't the last time we see her...I want to know what happens after the first dance with the POV character!

Samantha Demmerle

The production! The narrative emersion! The character drama! I loved it!!

Judith Connor

I laughed so hard at the comments about oysters - I ate a bad oyster once….will never forget the experience.

Scott Farley

Wonderful script! As always you surpass expectations. You truly are a Woman of many talents and unique beauty.

moonlightcottageASMR

Thanks Ottamia! And yes, it was "Madame D" ;) She mischievous but still fond of her friend!

moonlightcottageASMR

Oh it never happened to me and I don't eat oysters anymore, but I can only guess, ouch!

susanka susan

Omg I’m half way through and laughing out loud 🤣 perfection. And tingles on top of that. 🥰🥰🥰

Marge Ramsey

Brava Diane!! Gorgeous set, your costume is stunning and I absolutely adore your hair style!! The invites & dance cards - perfection! Those masks!!! Oh my goodness I want to attend! Your character is so devious but too enchanting! The sass is sensational! Another brilliantly done video!!!

Katia

My favourite psychopath has returned 😍 That first pairing in the dance card is actually a brilliant idea, I wonder if this was sometimes done in real life? It should have! I also really loved the music part in the middle, great storytelling. All in all, a brilliant video that I’m going to watch again and again 🙌 You are a master of your craft.

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you Katia! Dance cards were popular from the 1820s until the early 20th century (so my video is slightly anachronistic), but I don't think it would have been proper to pair people without them knowing ;)

Katia

Haha I did wonder if dance cards were really used already in 18th century, as I used to be REALLY into rococo (and medieval) era history in my teen years (yes total nerd I am) and never remember reading about dance cards 😄 But we are not here to learn about history 😁

JB

I have to say, I never fully understood the masquerade . The "eye masks" don't really conceal much, so what is the point? That said, incredible stuff, as always 👌

moonlightcottageASMR

I think covering the eyes conceals more than we might realize, as this is the main feature we usually focus on when talking to people. But you're right, it's still easy to guess someone's identity, and I believe that's how we want it to be, after all ;) Thank you!!

Sean levahn

Such a pleasure to watch….my eyes kept closing and I drifted away now and then…so relaxing!

Lisa Kenney

Salut! I finally watched the “masquerade” & thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. The issue with your gown went unnoticed by me😊 The music was perfect & really set the mood. I laughed out loud when M Dumais said to her friend (?), “I didn’t think your head was so big.”😆 She is quite a character! Curious…did you make the invitation?

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you Lisa!Yes, I made the card, but it took me 4 or 5 attempts before I managed to cut out the shapes properly 😅
