While it's been a crazy 48 hours on the home front, on top of all that, I made the first rough storyboarded video of my "O-Cup Corral" animation. All rough sketches of storyboard, but I recorded most of the dialogue and dropped it in, and timed most of the music (to this rough... will be retimed in future).

(Hey, $3 Followers! Since this is a grOw project, and not a Patreon project, you will see previews as your tier gets "previews of grOw projects being worked on." 😁)

I wanted to get the timing down because the music conveys so much emotion to the action, the visuals needed to work together. So before I draw any final art, I wanted to do this, and develop the movie as much as possible at this stage. I did a little of this on my other animations, but not to this extent. (ALL the art is VERY rough, originally only meant for me, so I didn't make it pretty.)

I LOVE the music I found! It will DEFINE this movie! You will hear snippets in this "first Look" video I'm about to post to my Subscribers. It's 1 min 47 sec out of the current 6 min 20 sec runtime (which I think will grow to about 7 minutes).

There are 3 pieces of music that I sample in this preview:
  •  0:00 - 0:30 — Spaghetti Western stuff
  •  0:31 - 0:42 — The face-off "drums"
  •  0:43 – end — The face-off Western-style, action music that I LOVE!

I am crazy excited to work on this and see the completed movie. First look video (1 min 47 sec):

Terminology used in the Movie:

I use a lot of American Old West terminology in the dialogue, and I know I have a decent following outside the U.S. As "classic" as Westerns are, I'm not sure if everyone understands "cowboy talk" (for lack of a better term). Here are some uses of this vernacular in the preview movie. Below are also some of the other "name puns" I used in this clip. (There will be more, but I will hold off until the movie is released to reveal them.)

Grand Tet-TONS — the character says the phrase with this inflection to make a jab at her adversary. She uses a pronunciation closer to "teat" for the first part of the second word ("Tet-"), though the actual name is pronounced with a short-e, "tet" (sounds like "get"). It is taken from Grand Teton, which is the highest mountain of the Teton Mountain Range in Grand Teton National Park in Northwest Wyoming. And, yes, "Grand Teton" means large breast, coined by French-Canadian fur trappers in the early 1800s (téton, French for breast)

Hoosegow — an informal, often humorous American slang term for a jail, prison, or lockup.

"Never miss a good chance to shut up." — Sometimes silence is the wisest choice.

Reckon — (As in "I's a' reckon...") a verb that generally means to think, believe, estimate, or calculate.

Skedaddle — an informal verb that means to run away quickly, depart in a hurry, or flee from a situation.

Billie Can-Ton — a play on the name of the outlaw Billy Clanton from the OK Corral history. In this use, if you haven't figured it out, plays on "can" as a term for "ass" and "ton" meaning heavy. wink wink

"Cock" Holiday — a play on the name of John Henry Holliday, usually known as "Doc" Holliday, from the OK Corral history, who was a friend of the lawmen who confronted the outlaws.

Wylie Nip — a play on the name of the lawman, Wyatt Earp from the OK Corral history.
