Hi folks!

It's been two busy months for me, this is the first calmer week in a while, and I finally found a moment to write a public devlog. I'm back from an almost month-long trip, still easing back into regular life and work, and I wanted to catch you up on what's coming next.

The next upcoming update, v0.57, will be for Rune and Mikko. The work is already underway - after adding some extra lines and short scenes to what was released as v0.56 (Devon & Bjorn), I started writing new scenes for Rune. The whole update will be about the same size as the last one - I'm planning to have 12k words of new content in total between the two routes.

The trip was a real break from everyday life - I spent 8 days in Hong Kong, 9 in Taiwan and 8 in Japan - adding flights, it's almost a month in total. The trip itself was tea-themed, and I got to visit the old pu'er stores of HK, teahouses and teafarms nestled in misty mountains of Taiwan, and traditional Japanese factories. The time away from the screen was useful, but coming back to work afterwards wasn't easy. It was a very active trip, with an itinerary cut so that we could see as many things as possible. The last weekend, when I could finally sit down and do nothing, was a life-saver. During the trip I got to sit in on a few tea ceremonies - from the very casual ones with the tea farmers of Shizhuo, to elaborate and meditative rituals in Uji. it was rather illuminating and inspiring. I'd like to carry parts of it into some of the scenes in this already largely tea-inspired VN.

Some news on Broken Harbours - it's pretty much ready now. The last illustration by Ghost is finished (already shared as a sneak peek for our patrons!), and I'm just waiting on the Chinese translation before it can go up on Steam. It'll be a relief to have it properly released, finished and closed.

On the art side, I'm happy to announce there's a new artist joining us: Murizy, who you might know from his fantastic series with Legosi, his superb commissions, or from numerous VN fanarts, including for Dawn Chorus, agreed to work on an NSFW illustration for Mikko, and possibly more after that. I've admired his work for a long time now, and I'm really glad to have him on board. That one illustration is already done - I'll shared a sneak peek of it the next week for our patrons, starting with Lively Lion tier.

Haku is also getting to draw alt poses for the sprites, starting with Torulf and Rune. In plans is also some work on Lake, cleaning up some older CGs, and assets for the new upcoming thing:

Lake's side story! It's coming along, slowly. The text is around 70% done, so there's a lot of work on my side. Haku has finished the first sprite already - if you'd like to see Anders, our Leonberger cake, and the very first lines of the story ahead of any promotional material, consider becoming our patron! There's a good way to go yet before this side story is anything you can play - still, there's progress and it's quietly taking shape, and I'm excited about it.

Thank you all for your support and interest - it means the world, and I can't wait to share what's next.

YAYYY I'm glad the trip was fun, and it's good to have you back!! Looking forward to seeing how things come along 🫶

It was Rune who first introduced me to begin searching for teahouses in my local area and learn about tea culture several years ago, so I am glad to see that thread is still going strong. Those pu'erh places must have been a dream come true.

It's good to hear you had a nice time! I always get interested when the Tea Stuff comes up, but I don't think I'd actually drink it IRL LOL [I'm more of a coffee guy.. And I'm English so it's probably NOT my type LOL]

Your trip sounds amazing honestly! I've never traveled outside Europe (and even here I've only been to Germany and Sweden), mostly because I'm disabled and wasn't able to afford it so far; but some places like India, Tibet, Japan (also inspired by tea a bit) are on my list of places I'd like to visit, if I ever win a lottery or inherit a lot of money😅But for now, I'd just like to move to Sweden finally, and maybe see some more of it; or even more of the Nordics, if money allows. Looking forward to the next update and even more to Lake's side story! 💖

Oooooh tea?! Dude that's so cool! Id love to have a similar tour around asia so I can learn more about tea. Someone on the discord helped me learn so much more about it and I've loved it ever since (hope you're okay forky). Awesome to see that you had fun, I can't wait to see what you put into the VN!

They were! The highest point and absolute highlight of the trip were the teahouses in Maokong overlooking Taipei, though. Magical atmosphere, superb tea, zero pretentiousness. I could spend a week or more just there. I'd recommend a pilgrimage there to everyone who lives tea.
