Hey guys! Posting this here because I'm hoping for some feedback. This is by no means a requirement but if you watch this could you please let me know on a scale of 1-10 of how you think this Youtube edit is?

It will post tomorrow at 2:30pm est.

I have received a fair amount of feedback regarding my recent youtube uploads and I want to make sure my editors are back on their A game!

My editors have also mentioned that I talk less now than I used to which is making it more challenging for them to edit. Have any of you noticed that? I know I was sick during firefly so im sure I talked less but Signs made no sense to me LOL

Dune is an amazing and inspired almost the entire Science Fiction that we see today. :)

Jerick E

Wait really? People are complaining that you're talking less? Lol. Wasn't there a conversation about what grinds people's gears about reactors talking over important moments on movies?

Julian Ortiz

Its not the less talking I think the editor should take out the less important of the movie it think there looking for more talking to makebit easier on them than actual working. I think there another editing group called Praper Media ive seen other contact creator use them . Maybe look into some options

Tim De Thülman

Heya Teegz👋 Glad you feeling better🤗

LiteWeight Gaming / Reacting

Well no one has complained about me talking less. My editing team is saying that I talk less, which in turn makes the reactions harder to edit because more movie footage has to be cut

Lukas

I haven't noticed you not talking enough ever. I admit that because I've been here for a while now, I've not watched any of your youtube edits in a really long time. I watched this one just now for about 30 minutes. I skimmed though and watched certain parts. It's more than fine for youtube and fans of Dune. 9/10 You talk fine in it. The only criticism I have for future video edits, is if the camera is in the same long shot, like when they're walking through the cemetery. I would limit the video cuts. It starts to look like stop-start animation. I feel like in that instance, just choose a couple of important lines and let those lines flow more easily. It can sometimes seem all herky-jerky with too many cuts from the one long camera shot. I know it's easier said than done. Editing videos like this is a huge pain in the behind and what these guys do is a lot of work. 9/10 edit. Only critique is too many small cuts in a row at certain moments. But it's nitpicking at this point. Great edit

Lukas

Also, in regards to the editors mentioning that you are not talking enough, I feel like the worst thing you could do, is force yourself to talk more. People can sniff out easily when someone is trying too hard and not being real or true to themselves. I think you do an amazing job. When you're not talking, people aren't bored because they're watching the movie too alongside you. I've never thought you don't talk enough. It's not the end of the world if you're not talking in a scene. Just show the scene. We're not staring at you the whole time lol, we're watching the same scene with you.

Andrew

I don't know if have notes but I think it was fun but I would suggest reading the books at some point to get a more full picture of the Frank Herbert Dune world. Your so fun to listen to and love how invested yout are in many of the films you react to.

Andrew

Book 1 Or the first dune book is three books or three parts in one book if that helps and the third movie is a combination of the second and third book Missiah and Children of Dune.

It's hard to find that balance for sure, I remember watching your Project Hail Mary on Patreon and then also watching the YT edit coz I couldn't get enough. I definitely didn't mind the YT edit but I'd say the edit needs to breathe a little more, not just cut to the next moment there's a "reaction". I get that due to Fair Use you can't really force more footage than necessary for the film reference but maybe cutting less of your reaction would be better. The scene I had in mind in PHM was when Rocky got out of his Hamster Ball, I remember your reaction really hitting me on the Patreon version, but it just didn't reach the same height in the YT Edit.

Thanks Jerick! This is what I mentioned to them. While they can’t keep up everything, I made it clear it’s okay to just cut to me staring at the screen rather than cutting out huge chunks of a scene

Editing and the reaction overall were good. So glad you’re watching this. Dune is dense, but so rewarding. A primer for you because you don’t have some details the book would have given by now as it actually had a glossary for all the terms, feel free to skip if you’re happy with the amount you’re picking up, which is pretty good. Spice was 100% an allegory for oil, the author said as much. Guild navigators use so much spice to navigate, they essentially see the future to plot routes through space, similar to what Paul is experiencing. They are super weird and not really explored in these movies unfortunately. The sisterhood Paul’s mom belongs to is pronounced like Benny Jez Er It. Ultimate control of their bodies badasses and behind the scenes people. No boys allowed, which is why it’s s bad that Jessica had a son AND started teaching him their methods. Paul is seeing possible futures, so all the things could have happened depending on his choices. The guys with the white eyes are mentats, which are people who train their minds to operate like computers because computers are outlawed due to something that would be massive spoilers for the deeper Dune lore and history. Sardukar are the emperor’s elite troops, better than anyone in the galaxy. But Gurney and Duncan seem to be better and have been training the Atreides army, and the Duke was a good man the other houses really respected, hence the betrayal. The shields block bullets and react real badly with lasers, so most people have gone back to fighting with blades.

Which in turn could lead to fewer copyright strikes?

I watch the YT edits as well as the patreon videos and I've not noticed any changes. If you were talking more you'd miss a lot of the plot. A laugh, a smile or a nod are also honest reactions. The only constructive criticism for the YT edits is that when they do the quick zoom in and outs on your face during the discussion at the end it makes me a little seasick. 😂

I prefer reactors that are actually watching and understand what they see, instead of someone who keeps talking during important dialogs or scenes. 🙂

I have edited quite a few reactions, and a lot of it is up to personal preference. I don’t really see anything egregious with this edit, from what I watched. I watch a lot of full length reactions for channels that I like (such as you!) and I often find myself thinking about how I would edit them down for YouTube. I edit for Angela (funnylilgalreacts) and I don’t really give her much feedback on how to react because it’s best she does what feels natural to her, and not be thinking about how her reaction will affect the editing process. Having a lot of silence can be challenging, but I don’t think you’re that silent during your reactions. I think if I were to give one criticism, it would be that sometimes you’ll start to say something and then you get interrupted by dialogue, because you’re trying not to talk over it (which is good). But then you don’t finish your thought until the scene ends. That can be tough to edit, but in most cases having to edit around you talking over dialogue would be worse. Especially if it happens all the time. I guess it’s best when there’s a balance. So I think you should just do what’s natural and not think about the editing while you’re reacting, and you’ll get the best result for everyone (ie yourself, the editor, and the viewers). Edit: Oh I just saw you mention that Praper edits your videos. Angela has started using them for some shows and movies, and we both have some criticisms. Usually about how the reaction flows and leaving out some emotional moments. As someone else mentioned, they need to let the reaction breathe sometimes, and I’ve used that exact phrase myself. But they aren’t bad. I’ve seen MUCH worse, including from myself during my first year or so of editing.

LiteWeight Gaming / Reacting

The frustrating thing is that they’ve edited well over 100 reactions for me now! I have no idea what the issue is. I feel like I haven’t changed. It seems like they gave me a newbie that doesn’t know what they’re doing lol

I appreciate that its a difficult balancing act between keeping your viewers engaged and absorbing the material you are watching Teegan. However, I think the best policy, is to just remain natural as much as possible. A reactor I used to follow, now has annoying tendencies of speaking too much and having forced laughter at anything remotely mirth-inducing. For example, in one beloved show of mine, there is a point where a character chooses to sit in a certain chair (it doesn't sound like much but it tell us the mindstate of them at that moment), and as the character hesitates for a few seconds, the reactor repeats three or four times "are you going to sit in the chair, eh, are you, eh, eh" during a very emotional moment. Said reactor was one I used to appreciate with their honesty, but is now a parody of themselves - though they do continue to make excellent post-reaction analyses generally still. Don't feel pressured to be something you are not. Its fine to critique yourself, but I personally don't see any issues with your work on the channel, or recent vids so far.

Ziro the Hutt

Yep, its important to let scenes breathe. I feel Teegan generally gets that right, where she'll start to say something but finish her sentence if the characters start speaking, as to not miss anything. A reactor I used to follow, now chats way too much during scenes, especially in moments of emotion where nothing is being said, and it has put me off them. For me its more important that a reactor engages with the material they are watching and responds to it after scenes, than during it. I understand that some personalities react by speaking during intense scenes, but I've never liked that. Its fine if what's being said is concise of course, then they can speak about that moment later; but too many want to chat over scenes these days and it takes me right out of it.

I’ve only been on your patreon for a few months, but I haven’t noticed any changes in that time! No idea what their issue is :( Definitely could be a newbie!

RAM888( Roy)

You just do you, it’s supposed to be natural, not like forced. If you have nothing to say about a particular moment then so be it. Your reactions feel genuine, and I’d rather keep it that way rather than you thinking about whether you are “talking enough”. Stay true to yourself and everything will be just fine. 😊

RAM888( Roy)

I’d rather have “real” silence than fake chatter.

RAM888( Roy)

And I’ll also add… even if you’re not talking , your facial expressions, especially your eyes, are worth 1000 words. So tell your editors that facial expressions count as “ talking “ because it’s still conveying how you feel about what you are seeing. … Hakuna Matata 😊

Can't be doing much wrong so many comments YouTube i Can't read them all..dune was fine for me not notice anything different..some reactors don't shut up..does put people off more than less talking does.

Irish40

Cinepals do like 2 episodes reactions,is that possible for YouTube for you ? I prefer YouTube because I don't have use a 2nd screen and do hype and like☺️..but still support you here.
