they robbed Rpbin of any melanin, justifiably so (though i love her old look) cuz she's supposed to be the OP version of Russian... Usopp got absolutely robbed. And why was Vivi EVER lily white? An Eguptian/southeast Asian princess, born n raised in the desert... Ain't no way she's white or close to it... But I do forgive the whitewash of Robin, solely based on Oda's interview where he stated the inspiration and home countries of the strawhats. A key thing to remember tho... This is back when OP was an amazing manga, but the anime was kinda petering... Oda didn't have control "like that" yet... Toei kinda hoed some characters out for marketting. But if you're concerned about Oda's thoughts on the Strawhats and their origins, look no further than the live action where he held a heavy hand in deciding who would play who. It's not netflix wokification, it's Oda correcting an error where tens of thousands of dollars worth of ink would have held the franchise back.
