Here's a Hot Cartoonist Take: 99% of the time, when my artist pals retcon an old comic panel or redraw an old print, the original is somehow a thousand times better than the new "improved" version.

I don't know if it's nostalgia for the original, or if age has caused the artist to stiffen up, or what, but... I generally steer clear of retconning old comics, because I assume the new version will be worse than the old version.

BUT.

I couldn't help myself. I've been tweaking Elephant Town as we revisit each chapter.

And, so far, I like the revisions better. Lemme know what you think! (Originals on the left, tweaks on the right.)

Chapter 7 won't be up til Monday, but here's a sneak tweak-peek at what I changed for Berto's upcoming appearance...

I'm sure that won't be the last time I forget Meighan's ring.

Lemme know if you think I was right to spend way too much time tweaking these pages, or if I'm living proof of my Hot Cartoonist Take! 😬

This chapter'll be up on Sunday night, while I'm away visiting Luke's family - hope you enjoy Berto & Meighan's wholesome-ass chapter when it's up!

If you enjoy doing the tweeks then it's absolutely worth it.

The most dramatic is the light on the street, and definitely feels like a great change. The others help with readability and visibility, so I like them! Hate it when graphic novels are hard to read or see details. --Neal

Those are really subtle, but they're good editorial changes.

The S changes also emphasize the word, which is how I hear him saying it.
