WWF Backlash PREVIEW 1

This is an early preview build. Many areas are unfinished but enough for a new feel.No Hell in a Cell yet, this should be on PREVIEW 2 or 3.

Roster changed to WWF 2001Tons of attires.Tons of new moves and animations.New Menus.New stages (ring view only).New Music and trons.Much more to come.Some emulators like Android's M64 FZ Pro can't handle music beyond the 64MB area and results in static. For this reason there is a full patch and a "LITE" patch.

Have you applied the patch to an „fresh“ US v1 No Mercy rom? What message do you get on PJ64?

Sounds like the wrong rom to me. I would try to download an fresh rom from Vimms Lair. Make sure to get v1 (not 1.1) with US region. 👍

Hey Randy! So I tried this for my M64 emulator but I keep getting a black screen. I applied the patch on No Mercy, then tried the Lite patch but the same thing keeps happening. Any advice?

The best place to inquire issues is in the general community chat. I don't always see replies to comments. I don't always get notifications. The community can also chime in to help there. If it isn't loading it's likely that you didn't patch to the correct ROM. Redownload the 1.0 version of NM from vimms lair and try again.

No it overwrites the original rom.

The plan is you'll choose WWF, WCW or ECW and go through a full year of 2001 from each perspective. You won't choose who to play as because you'll just be following along the story and taking over various people. As far as belts go, it'll include all WWF and most WCW belts.

Dude killer, now theres a roster for WWE that compares to some of the VPW rosters. Had to throw Kanyon and Bryan Adams in a tag instantly. this is damn near complete too. way further than i expected. Great work, what a gift.

Honky Tonk Man made an appearance at the 2001 Royal Rumble. Iron Sheik won the Gimmick Battle Royal at WrestleMania. Ric Flair was introduced as Co-Owner of WWF after Survivor Series 2001 and DDP … well was the Stalker of Sara. 🙈 What I wanted to say is, they are all in for an reason because they had their role in 2001. ☺️👍

Tried to play season mode but it wants to go to a black screen with whoever's came out music still playing or it freezes in the first match of the mode. Playing on summercart.

This isn’t implemented yet. I should have blocked this screen to reduce confusion. This project is still an early preview. Many things are unfinished.

Hey Randy, is it possible to balance out the gameplay by having to lower the amount of spirit that gains from spam taunting in ring. Maybe to force the player to wrestle more instead of, knocking them out of the ring or a when the opponent is on the ground and spam taunt into a special. It also would be nice to use the blue spirt meter flash before tilting the joystick for special as for maybe a signature move that is needed in order to get the special. (These are just some ideas) By the way, I love the new Royal Rumble moves you've put into the game to make that match more balanced and a lot of fun.

I could see lowering the spirit gain when on expert. Maybe I could eventually make an "expert 2" options of sorts and change a handful of things. "Pro" maybe?

The name stays the same but you’ll see the rom file size would have increased after you patched it.

A few things that I would like to suggest. I've noticed that the CPU usually picks you back up after hitting a finisher. This happens so often and its not realistic. Maybe there's a way to fix this? Also I would strongly suggest adding the Random Spirit Boost cheat code and the S-Powered Finishers cheat code because they made No Mercy so much better. A lot of the modders would add those cheats to their mods. There's even a cheat that makes submissions last longer.

The roster is pretty much set in stone. I don't plan to add any more main roster characters. HBK will likely get CAW parts. I can't add every character ever, so I'm sticking to characters that were actually on WWF TV in 2001. I don't like mash-up projects and trying to fulfill every single "wish" request is just unrealistic.

If it's not too much trouble on the next preview can we get some Stone Cold Steve Austin t-shirts as far as the alliance shirts the do unto other shirts the long sleeve black and white Austin shirt around the time he wore around survivor series. And also the Undertaker Dead Man Inc leather pants

If I step outside the timeframe, the requests can easily become unrealistic. There’s already a lot planned for the 2001 timeframe.

Having trouble patching the ROM, it's successful and does load but the textures for the wrestlers aren't working. the menus, music and everything else works fine but the roster is a bunch of random CAW looking things. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like it’s loading an old save file for some reason. Delete whatever save file you have and load it up.

Championship mode will be changed to a Season mode where you'll choose ECW WCW or WWF and play as various preset characters throughout a year season. This will take a lot of time and won't be in on the next preview. I'll likely start implementing this slowly over the next 6 months.

Dude, this was awesome. I checked it out, and you have made it really start feeling like a sequel and not just a mod. Please, if possible, add some WCW talent as DLC like or something. Just because the nWo 2002 comes in soon and Goldberg comes in, Steiner, and a few others. And if possible, HBK 2002. Either way, dude, thank you. Did you change Austin up a bit? It seems like he was more real, but I'm not sure if the model was the only difference or what. I can't believe how good you have gotten with making changes to this game. You have brought it back to life with all your work man. Thank you.

Is it possible to add the ECW Theme song, as when the ECW Guys first broke away from WWF and WCW July 2001, they used that theme?

Will we have tag team setup or would we have to create them in the creation suite in the final game? Will Honky Tonk Man, Iron Sheik, and the others in the last two stables who don't have official theme have it in the final game? Will a ref be added like in the old AKi games where you can add or not have ref do the counts? Will the final game have 6 in the ring at a time or will it stay at 4? Thank you!

With the amount of awesome and available tag teams in this roster...is it possible to add a tag team tournament mode? We have dudleyz, hardyz, e&c, x factor, kane and undertaker, stone cold and hhh, eddie chavo, apa, rock and sock, chuck and o haire, and plenty of others to choose from.

Hi Randy, I played your beautiful works wwf no mercy plus beta 3, also ECW born to be wired, and WWF Backlash 64 beautiful. I know it's a lot of work for you doing these projects, the best hack rom wrestling games are very good. but my question is in a new update there could also be with the WWF no mercy version (USA -1). Well, this is the best version and it has no problems with auto saving. I apologize if these words are not understood because I wrote through Google translator, I still have problems speaking in English.

No mercy plus beta 3 is outdated. Use Open Beta released in Jan 2026. There's no need for USA-1 because I've fixed the save issue on all the game you mentioned.

Hey randy. I know you've addressed this issue but I'm wondering if there's a work around. I play on android and a pretty decent phone, is there any way of adding sound?

Yes you have to extract them and read the read me files. SD should come out of the side of the SC64. If it's not spring loaded you just pull it out. If spring loaded, push it in and it'll spring out.

If you don’t have an expansion pak, that’s the issue. It says it’s required in the read file doc included in the download
