[Farrah watching feed of fighting on tablet]

F: It’s devolved. No word on the barriers, we’re gonna have to go with plan B. 

Kar [into walkie]: Start cutting and filtering.

[scene at barrier on ground, a res uses the laser to cut a hole in the barrier and start filing people through]

[The crowd are fighting. cris is fighting. so’s twik. keelee escapes gma and runs. Tiraa is still doing chest compressions on Cyras as Brek guards them shooting one-handed.]

T: Come on - come on - come back to me - please - you can’t - leave me like this - Cyras - Cyras - [breaths into him, a tear slipping down her cheek] Please.

[scra and ky fighting off Doves. more appear from buildings on foot, wings covered]: This is insane, why are the barriers still up?! 

Ky [wet, looking up at podium]: They must’ve run into trouble. I don’t see Keelee. I’m going.

Scra [turns to him to find him looking back at him] Ky -

Ky: Are you coming?

Scra [shocked he asked first] : Yeah. Come on. Everyone else is distracted enough right now.

[They take off towards the podium]

[Erka and Lyr are dodging laserfire]

E: I can’t BELIEVE you left yours active without telling me! That’s like, girl code 101! What if I get shot, Lyr?

L: Then you better be faster at ducking.

[shoots over erka’s shoulder, she disarms a dove in retaliation.]

E: Seriously, WHEN is help getting here?? We could reealllyy use some right about now.

Kieera: Sounds like we’re right in time then.

E[to kerwik and kieera] : You two!

Kerwik: Sorry we’re late, problems with the barrier. They only just started resorting to cutting and we managed to slip through in the first wave. Well done holding the fort.

L: Not really holding a fort so much as evading death.

Ker: You’ve stopped Academy students from participating in this shitshow, that's not nothing. [gesturing at the puck on erka’s gun] I see you were left the same job I was. 

Lyr: I was mostly hoping it wasn’t by a Dove.

Ker: Nah. The Resistance has a tech guy, he clued me in. Lars?

Lyr: [deadpan] That tracks. 

erka: The creep.

Kieera: Anyway, we’ve gotta get Academy students out of the firing range. Help us round them up would you?

Erka: Yeah no pro -

[she gets shot in the arm by a new blaster the doves have rolled out. It takes a chunk of it]

Erka [clutching her arm]:...Ow. 

Kieer: Hold shit -

Ker: Get her out of here. There’s a Government aid station in the building you can still access, third floor. 

Lyr: On it -

Kier: Wait, we’re in Res uniform, students won’t listen to us. I’ll take her, you stay here and get them to follow you. [takes erka from her]

L: Erm, ok but -

Ker: Go! There’s no time to waste. 

[Lyr runs towards the students forming a huddle, beating off civilians when they can]

[Del and co on tower, fighting guards. Del spots panel, Major lands next to him]

D: It’s here. Hold them off, we just need a bit longer.

Rhaast: A bit longer and we’re gonna be ground pancakes.

D: There’s an orange wire, I just need to find the orange wire -

[a guard looms at del, aiming gun. Major sees out the corner of his eye and lanches himself backwards, into the guard as the gun goes off, knocking him sideways. He’s shot through the chest. Del turns in slow motion. to see both major and the guard falling backwards.]

Major: I’m proud of you, son. 

[He falls into the darkness. Del screams.]

[Ky and Scra make it to the podium as the barrier vanishes and more Corvids fly in, followed by Res. Scra goes to the mic while Ky fends bodyguards off]

S: Everyone! Stop fighting! I know you’re tired of how things are, I know you’re sick of being mistreated, but we can come to a solution if we just -

Reik [grabs it back]: Who’s gonna listen to the Crow King, when the King of Corvids is right here?! Why would you follow someone who’s slid in with the Raptors? Goin’ to their fancy school, eatin’ their fancy food? Fight the Doves! Fight the Resistance! Fight the Government! Get ‘em all!

S: How are you up here, if you didn’t get friendly with the Eagles? You were standing with the bodyguards - have you been taking Eagle money to do their dirty work, Reik?

R: I - what - no, I - I’ve infiltrated their ranks! Destroyed them from the inside out!

S: That’s a nice suit you’ve got there. You get if from the Bougie Budgie?

Ky[raising gun]: Not another step.

[points it at reamer]: Keelee. Was that all just a ploy too? Pretend you were gonna give her back to me, when she was really with your grandma all along?

Rea: [scowls at gma] I didn’t know she’d taken her. 

gma: And thank Icarus I did, or we would have forfeited our one bargaining chip.

Ky: She’s not an object. Where is she.

gma: Scarpered off in the commotion, seems like. Now why don’t you just -

[ky aims gun at her. she’s annoyed by it]

gma: Come now grandson, there’s no need for -

Ky: I’m not your anything. 

Alt: My my, what a quaint little family reunion! We do like big families. 

Ky: Quiet. [to reamer] We don’t want bloodshed, we just want resolution. You know this can’t go on as it has. I know you’ve questioned this system. [flashback to them at the bar]. Help us change it.

reamer[to reik]: Call off the Corvids.

Reik: What was that? Sorry buddy, but I don’t think you heard me just then. I used you. You thought we were bff’s because you took me to a club once? Let me follow you around like a little lost duckling? Please, you ain’t as dumb as that, I knew you were tryin’ to pull strings behind everyone’s backs. Like that time you told the Doves about the bar holdin’ those chicks, and pretended you didn’t know I’d tell the Flamingo they were plannin’ a raid. Or when you told me to set those bombs in the City and kidnap that old commissioner -  you must’ve known it’d rile everyone up and start somethin’. Well look down there - you’ve got somethin’ now! I just hope it’s everything you’ve ever wanted. [Res are trickling in, but it’s not enough]

[Reamer points his gun at Alt.]

R: I could end this all. Right now.

Alt: You think it would be that simple, boy? That, in my martyrdom, my brethren will not avenge me? You are free to try it. I will not stop you. It will incite more anger towards this Government, and fuel my goals regardless. Or you could kill your own mother, I suppose. Take her place, her power, and her promises. An interesting notion. You, at the helm, no longer in her shadow. Both tempting, I’m sure. What will you choose, I wonder? How will you decide to shape this world that has been given to you?

[mom nods at him]

R: By my own hand.
